Wr Stephen Hill Visiting Panthers

No it doesn't matter because Thomas was in the same offense and had 23 more rec. and more yards and TD. So either Paul Johnson found a way to get the ball to Thomas more or Hill may not be as talented as you think.

Or they had more talent and spread the ball around more than they did in 2009. But, you know, statistics tell you everything right??

Again you sound like Cam haters. Lol. You sound just like TRD. And that is saying something. And I am not making excuses for Lafell because I don't have a problem with Lafell. As a matter of fact my entire point is that broad statistics don't tell all in regards to how good a player is or isn't. That applies to Lafell also.

But there is a reason why we have had 5 receivers in for a visit so far. And have interviewed seven WRs in this draft.

i think he was a Cam hater too.the writing is on the wall, this team wants another WR.

I wasn't a Cam hater but thank you for proving a point to me. You must be 1 of those "If I'm not winning a debate I will make a Bold statement about the other person" people. Teeray already has a rep for doing that.

I don't like Hill as much as you so that must mean I didn't like Cam last year. What a stupid conclusion to come up with.

What bold statement did I make?? Give me some examples of my past transgressions since I "have a reputation". All I said is that you sound like the Cam haters from last year. That isn't very bold IMO.

Or is that any more bold than you deciding that I am only in love with his combine numbers and am desperate for a WR so i have to throw Lafell under a bus, when in fact I have said that we should use every pick on the defense this draft??

I do like Hill and would be happy if we got him, but I am more concerned for our defense than our offense.

No I must be a Cam Hater because I'm not crazy about Hill. Or how you put it I sound like a Cam hater because I'm not crazy about Hill.

WTF does Cam have to do with this debate in the 1st place and why did you bring him up.

I wouldnt have a problem if they took a WR, and its really becuz i have good feeling about this class. I just think these guys at the top of the draft are gonna be really good. Wright, Floyd, Hill, blackmon. Just something about them that wouldnt make me upset if we took one of them.

Then I'm really not that hyped up about using a top 50 pick on a 4th wr. Instead of a 2nd Cb,DT,DE, or OLB. Not saying that's what you think we should do.

Uhh, a 4th WR? What? You are looking at this in a weird way. WR may not be our biggest need right now but it may be that he is the BPA in the 2nd when we pick. WR is a position we DO need to upgrade sometime in the near future. You are right that we have bigger needs at other positions but we have other draft picks to address them. If we draft Hill, it will be because we expect him to make an impact this year and grow into more than just a "4th WR." That is not saying we would give up on Lafell or Gettis - this offense throws the ball more than enough for a multitude of receivers to have big careers here - but it does mean that the FO thinks they would be upgrading the position substantially. Perhaps not in the immediate, first-game-of-the-season sense, but likely down the road.

As to a 2nd CB, DT, DE(? 3rd?) or LB, we have draft picks outside the 2nd round and will undoubtedly use them to address those positions. Finally, it is a VERY bad idea to draft purely on need as it causes you to reach.

Nothing we were comparing Lafell production to D Thomas of the broncos.

man those are such hugely different offenses, seems kinda silly to do that...

im not here to win debates just get people to see things from a different point of view. you have been discouting everything but Cox in every thread when the evidence says that they are looking at other positions. WR is a need as well, if you want to accept that or not.

BPA in the 2nd round then OK.

Did I say you were a Cam hater last year?? Quote that post for me because I don't recall saying that. I gave pie to DaCityKats based on the second part of his post when he said that we are looking for another WR. Not that you were a Cam hater last year.

I said you sounded like they did and I gave examples of that in an earlier post (he is a project, we already have young players at that position, he wasn't in a pro offense, etc.).

I brought Cam up to make a point about the misuse of the word "project" and how long it takes for guys to make an impact even if they don't come from pro offenses. I used Cam because the QB position in infinitely more difficult to make that transition than WR.

I do not think anyone is expecting us to draft him at #9...

The only way this happens is if we trade back, trade back into the later part of the first round, or if Hill slides to #40 (the latter is unlikely IMO).

I doubt very seriously we take him at #9
