Wr Stephen Hill Visiting Panthers

what a weird discussion...

If you look at team needs, WR is not one of our top needs, but it is hard to argue that an offense like ours could have too many weapons. Smart teams do not draft only based on team need, but also on BPA. Would Hill be BPA at #9? Hell no. However, in the 2nd round, he very well could be. He is perfect for the offense we run and I think he has the potential to be a big play threat. I think you could perhaps make the argument there are better players that may be available there, but without seeing how the draft falls it would be difficult for me to say that with confidence.

As to not giving our two young WRs the benefit of the doubt... if we drafted Hill, it would not be those two whose roster spots were as good as gone (though it likely would mean at least one of our other receivers is gone... but I think we expected a certain converted QB to be on his way out anyway). They would still get plenty of play time. This offense uses more than 3 receivers, and on a regular basis. All three would have the chance to contribute. Drafting Hill is not giving up on Lafell/Gettis at all... it is simply improving the offense by the addition of a very talented, if raw, player.

well thanks for proving my point about McClain as well because his numbers were no better and he was supposed to make plays behind the LOS. Teeray it doesnt matter that Hill team threw the ball for 1600 yards and he had half of those yards.he should have more.

No it doesn't matter because Thomas was in the same offense and had 23 more rec. and more yards and TD. So either Paul Johnson found a way to get the ball to Thomas more or Hill may not be as talented as you think.

What else do you have to go on In Hill's case? He had little to no College production. He didn't play in a pro system or run any Pro routes. He didn't perform against the best competition in the ACC. So other then what he did in the combine what are you so hyped about?

Depends on what you think production is. He had nearly 40% of the entire teams passing offense and had 28 of the entire team's 82 receptions. Again nearly 40% of the offense. Despite having a terrible QB who could not throw the ball accurately.

He also adjusts to the ball extremely well, has strong hands, won most of his jump balls, great body control, had big play explosion, great size, great speed, and is considered smart and a hard worker.

His down side?? He had two bad drops against UNC and Clemson and played on a team than ran the ball 82% of the time

you right, QB also does not come into effect of his play either. and Paul Johnson offense was new to the ACC so teams left more opportunties for them to go down field could be said.

Then I'm really not that hyped up about using a top 50 pick on a 4th wr. Instead of a 2nd Cb,DT,DE, or OLB. Not saying that's what you think we should do.

To the people who say he didn't have a lot of production in college, if you believe that it is his fault than you would have to agree that Steve Smith only having @45 catches, @500 yards and only 2 tds in 2010 wasn't Clausen's fault and wasn't Davidson's fault. It was clearly Steve Smith's fault. Right??

How many excuse can you make for this guy?

Again you sound like Cam haters. Lol. You sound just like TRD. And that is saying something. And I am not making excuses for Lafell because I don't have a problem with Lafell. As a matter of fact my entire point is that broad statistics don't tell all in regards to how good a player is or isn't. That applies to Lafell also.

But there is a reason why we have had 5 receivers in for a visit so far. And have interviewed seven WRs in this draft.
