Wr Stephen Hill Visiting Panthers

Why can't we be trading up instead? I'm always hearing "trade back, trade back". We very well could be trading that high second rounder to get another pick in the first and I'm all for such an aggressive move. Don't be passive Marty shoot for the moon! Is this guy worth it?

But he's sold on Hill?

No...He just isn't sold on anyone else to take at #9. So he is evaluating players in the event that he trades back into the 20s (and all of the 1st round quality DL players are gone). Options are more limited in the 20s and if that trade is made, all indications point to Cox, Coples, Brockers all being gone so we might have to go to a different position. IDT Stephen Hill would be the guy (even in the late part of the 1st) but it just shows that he wants to make sure he's taken a look at everyone he MIGHT be willing to take.

I would be Pissed if he takes this risk even with a trade back. A lot of raw ability but no college production. I see no difference between Hill and Poe. Except Poe plays a Position of greater need.

Then that IMO will be a wasted pick.

Why? Another automatic upgrade in the passing game, and a possible replacement for Smitty.

LaFell, Gettis, Olsen, and one more star potential wide out would make this offense unstoppable for the next 7+ offense. I'm talking Manning, Wayne, Harrison, Clark status.

Hill is a project WR right now. He doesn't have college production. He never made big plays against the better CB he faced. He played in a system that didn't teach him how to run pro routes. He has a lot of Raw talent but doesn't know how to use it yet.

Now in the 2nd round you want a impact player or a starter. I don't see that from him for a year or 2. Which makes it a wasted pick because he might not make a impact for 2 years.

The same thought crossed my mind. Poe is supposedly a workout wonder because he had great measurables but was underwhelming in the C-USA. He would not be worth a first round pick in some minds. Yet Hill has great measurables but was underwhelming because he played in a run heavy option scheme which is not that different in some ways to what we run. Yet he will be great as a pro because he hasn't had a chance. Even though he played in the ACC which we are reminded in every kuechly thread was an underwhelming conference as well.

I wish people would be consistent.......
