This is a new coaching staff. He got hurt and wasn't able to contribute...If they weren't interested, they could have saved a few minutes and cut him (they still can). This is his last year under contract.

Yup, 2 year extension. Don't know if we genuinely like his potential or if the extension was just for insurance in case we don't get Shockey back or find a good tight end in the draft.
