More Pressure From Carolina D

P55 the giants were 10-6 in 2007 and their defensive line was ranked 1st overall against the pass and 3rd overall against the run. Their total defense was also above average, and they were running the same system we are running at that time.

The defense was top ten in 2007 and they did have a very good Dline no doubt. But to compare this year's team to that team is not close to the same.

For that matter If you look at us, we were 8th in total yards, 9th in points surrendered, 4th against the pass and 20th against the run in 2009 but that didn't translate to a great season. Just a great defense doesn't assure a great team or the Ravens would be a lot more success in the playoffs then they have had. If we wanted a team to emulate who play the same scheme we should look to the Eagles not the Giants. They have been better on defense in the past 10 years. Plus we have a pretty good history of being a good defensive team over the years as well. The thing that has been lacking was a franchise quarterback.

LOL at Kuechly fan boys. They will say just about anything to justify picking him.

Yeah, let's not help Cam out in what should be a prime season to make move in the NFCS and draft a project DT that will likely be on par with Fua and McClain next year.

I am fine with more guys than just Luke.....just think he is the pick over the DTs.

Would have to double check but I think during the Jim Johnson era....no team in the NFL got to the QB more than his Eagle squads.

Are you saying drafting Kuechly to back up Davis would be better than drafting one of the top defensive linemen?

Davis ain't playing a full season.

Drafting Luke would benefit the 2012 Panthers most likely more than a DT in this draft.

I would take Coples over Luke. Then I would consider drafting a LB like David in the 2nd if I didn't love the CB

just look what they were able to do while picking no linebackers in the first round

how is this help your central argument?

We have picked a defensive linemen in the first round how many times since we picked Peppers in 2002?? So using your logic since we had some pretty good lines we shouldn't pick a D linemen now either, right??

lol if anybody thinks that based on the first 8 quarters of the regular season against the Rams and Texans' defense (which was terrible at that time) that Jake was going to light up the league that year

You mean when he had 7 Tds passes in 8 quarters and Smitty was on average to top 2000 yards. No he was going to be awful that year.

Finding good defensive line isn't as easy as it is to find good linebackers.

It isn't as if we aren't going to draft a DE or DT this year, what we are talking about is only the first round. There are 7 rounds. With Johnson being a third rounder, Ruckers being a second rounder, Jenkins being a second rounder and on and on it isn't like if we don't go DT or DR in the first, then all is lost.
