Why Do Nba Players Act So...

I just believe that Olympic players should play for the pride of their country and college players should not be compensated for anything.

It's unbelievable to see that players like Dwade who many kids look up to can come out and make comments like that. I lost a lot of respect for the man. His commercial back in the day where he help built a hoop or whatever for the kids is bull to me now. Bet he got paid pretty good for it.

excuse my ignorance but do any Olympic athletes get paid? Even in other countries?

does not belong to me (wiki answer):

Neither the International nor the U.S. Olympic Committees pay the athletes for competing, but the USOC pays athletes a good sum for winning medals.

But the real money that athletes make comes from lucrative marketing deals. U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps, for instance, receives an estimated $5 million for plugging companies like Omega, PowerBar, Visa and Speedo.

Phelps will also get a $1 million bonus from Speedo if he can match the record seven golds in a single Olympic Games set by U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz in the 1972 Summer Games in Munich, Germany.

Gold medal: $25,000 given to U.S. athletes by USOC

Silver medal: $15,000

Bronze medal: $10,000

they get 10,000 dollars if they win a gold medal. im not sure if the losers get anything.

(I think that's fair enough imo.)

Wait- college players dont get paid?

On a more serious note- yes, everyone wants to get paid. Its how the world works, and so far capitalism seems to be the best option

You choose to play, you don't have to play.

No one is forcing you to play high school ball or collegiate ball.

Playing for a school is, being able to represent your school.

You want to pay college players, you know who's next in line? High school players, then middle, then elementary, then pop warner. You wanna pay every one?

Bottom line is, professional athletes are the only one that should be pay, bc it's a profession. And they should be proud of being able to represnt playing in the Olympic for their own country and people.

Soldiers are fighting in wars at minimum wages.

So dont be greedy. And people talk about it's better to give than receive.

I agree chuck, I don't really understand why it's a problem if they are rewarded for victory. Plus no one is forcing you to play in the Olympics

Agree.

I think the problem with these players is bc they were always surrounded with cameras at a very young age. And basketball is a small team so the attention is always going to be there unlike with the NFL players.

I wish more basketball players were like Duncan and Durant. Both smart, quiet, and very humble players. You won't see anything comes out of KD even when he goes out and put up 40 PTs a game. Not so much with players like Lebron, Wade, and Howard where the lights were always on them in the beginning.

Your implication that LeBron and Wade arent smart and humble players is laughable. The fact you so easily bash these athletes who have repped our country and won gold is sad. Other countries don't hate on their own like we do. The Americans have been all in for Team USA since 04. And all of those guys are a lot more patriotic than you'll ever be. You might not like their personalities, but you damn sure better respect their service. I don't like Kobe, but when he plays for my country I give him his respect.

Winning the Gold for your country is the highest honor, the biggest accomplishment in athletics. You're competing against the best of the best around the World. And best believe every country on Earth wants to upset Team USA. The Americans have competed in dozens upon dozens of international competitions, they deserve the respect of folk heroes. I'm talking faces on stamps. Other countries do it for their guys.

Disagree. They're playing a game. They don't know anything about sacrifice or representing your country. KT before you come out and say something about how they're more patriotic than me you need to take into consideration that I represent this country every day. I have sacrificed more than they ever will for this country and get paid peanuts compared to them. They're not folk heros, they're athletes. They are paid to play a game and they are paid very well.

Yes these athletes know nothing about sacrifice, they didnt work hard to get where they are at. Me punching the clock at Home Depot every day is more American/patriotic than Team USA winning gold medals in front of hostile crowds in China with millions booing and cheering against them. Winning gold medals is easy and not important. Any American can do what they do. I betcha D Wade and LeBron couldnt punch a clock like me. Plus they get paid for the Olympics, so they owe us! Derp!

    • I find it more like now that I have been forced to watch Young so much it isn’t as much of a shock to my senses.   Desensitized they call it.   For real, it just looks normal almost now. Where the first game of 2023 I wasn’t sure what I was looking at it was so out of bounds for NFL type play. I literally couldn’t make sense of what I had seen vs Atlanta that first week.
    • Lynch in SF. Great is subjective but he has done pretty well there.
    • Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.    the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.
