STUPID!!!!

He wants to get pay to play in the Olympic. You get the chance to wear red, white, and blue to represent your own country and you still wants to get pay. You're making like 15 mil a year!!!!!

And Ray Allen agrees with him.

Retarded.

Why is it a big deal for professional basketball players to want to get paid for playing basketball? Sure they are repping their country, but lets not act like they dont make money for the program through jersey sales and TV audiences. Its not like this is an unprecedented idea, soccer players get paid for playing in the World Cup and other big international tournaments.

Doesnt really matter to me, but I wouldnt care if they got a little spending money for representing our country- I would prefer it come in the forms of bonuses for winning though!

Dwayne Wade responds via facebook...

I’m reading a lot of reports coming out about my comments re: the Olympics and compensation. And I want to clear this up personally...I responded 2 a specific question asked by a reporter on my thoughts of Olympians being paid. I never asked to be paid to PLAY. What I was referencing is there is a lot of Olympic business that happens that athletes are not a part of. It’s a complicated issue. BUT my love 4 the game & pride 4 USA motivates me more than any dollar amount. I repped my country in 2004 when we won the silver medal and stood proudly to receive our gold medal in 2008 in Beijing. It’s always been an honor for me to be a part of the USA Olympic family & I’m looking forward to doing it again in London this summer.

for once, I think I agree with KT here... it is not like he came out and was like "I AINT PLAYIN IN THE OLYMPICS TILL THEY PAY ME", he was specifically asked about it... cant blame him for feeling that Olympians in general should get paid, I can understand that argument, but I do think that could cause some major problems on its own.

IF this was the reason he or other bball players skipped some international events, then I think it might make me wonder about him given the amount he makes...

The world cup is part of the soccer organzization. Its like the super bowl of soccer. It's no where close to an Olympic even though it carries many countries. It's just part of the game.

Soccer players get paid for the World Cup but they don't get paid like the rest of the other players who's representing their countries in the Olympic. Now if soccer players were being paid in the Olympic and basketball players were not, that would make a case, but thats not the case.

I think some countries actually do give medal bonuses for their olympians. I'm not surprised soccer players dont get paid for the olympics, its basically a U-23 tournament for them. But it is the biggest basketball tournament for international teams and somebody is sure as hell making money off of it. Do they get paid for the World Championship they also play in? I have no idea.

Also not sure why you still are complaining about Wade. He played in 2004, 2008, and is about to play in 2012, he clearly cares about something other than the money if he keeps doing it. If you want to know who cares about the money, just look at all the big stars that turned down the opportunity to play in 2004 (KG, Kobe, Shaq I believe all refused)

Anything to slam NBA players for being richer and more successful than people not talented enough to represent their country. Wade has already won medals for us, but apparently he still owes servirude for being "ghetto" and rich. Send the college kids to play, so when we get their ass kicked again dudes will be beggin NBA players to save us.

College players has all the talent in the world.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ant Davis or Shabazz Muhammad. If its all for playing for the country, I'm all for it. I think college players could at least still get us the bronze.

So do you agree with Wade's comment on wanting collegiate players to be paid also? I mean can Wade make me wanna puke any more. A player having the ability to go to a fantastic school on a full ride scholarship to go play ball and also being able to get an education, and still this dude thinks that they should still be compensate for it. Anything for money huh?

Wait- college players dont get paid?

On a more serious note- yes, everyone wants to get paid. Its how the world works, and so far capitalism seems to be the best option

    • With all the money invested in the offensive line, we really need to hit on some Round 1-3 picks.  We could really use a star receiver or pass rusher on a rookie contract for a few years.
    • I understand everyone being happy but let's try not to turn it into another schoolgirl crush festival. No offense. It isn't slower WRs that cause wild overthrows. They have all kinds of practice. It is his mechanics keeping things under control that allows a more efficient conversion of energy, let's call it, into the throw, that we are seeing.  He was doing it with horrible mechanics and needing to put 100% effort to get the ball that far. That totally fugs your accuracy. There is video of Mahomes and Carr on this site that I have linked with them throwing under control vs all out trying to get the most velocity on a radar gun. It shows exactly what I am saying. I didn't make it up. I have been telling y'all for a year at least. It really is all about the margins with Young and he has to be very attentive to his technique to get the most from what he has. He is doing that now and this is the new 'what he can do'. And this is it, there ain't no more. You decide if that's enough for you I guess. But you are noticing better ball flight and zip I am pretty sure, it comes from there. Again go look at the Buffalo drive in preseason and you will see that same thing you see lately. To do that stuff you have to be willing to stand tall come what may, sometimes. Hopefully you have protection to step up safely but the difference making happens when you stand in there and finish just ahead of a hit.  ..... And btw, the straw that broke the camel's back when Tepper fired Reich, was because he couldn't fix it in a week. One of the last issues that I remember was about Young's footwork. You know, I guess it is normal that 10 weeks into the season someone just realized, or finally accepted, that Young had major fundamentals issues. It took them a lot longer to realize it isn't an overnight fix. And my issues with Young were specifically over this stuff. Major rehab job, you don't pay what we paid for that. Hopefully he is 'fixed' and it 'took' and he doesn't go back into his little safe space of the old mechanics like he did week 1. If he hangs with the new, this is what you are working wth now. We just saw his ceiling.
    • i'm not nearly 100%, but i'm trending that way. He's definitely got me around 75%.
