Marty Hurney Will Be On Pft Live Today

This is the first time I've heard Hurney publicly admit he's struggled in the 2nd round. His comment about picking the "safe" player in the 1st round makes me think David DeCastro could be in play.

Dunno about that. He will still thinking about who would contribute to the team the most and frankly, guards just aren't that type of position. There are other safe picks for him to consider before thinking about Decastro.

who needs stewart when you have Cam? He runs more times than Stewart. Stewart is only in the game for like 10 players per game.

I love when people talk out of their asses. Stewart actually had 55 more carries on the year and was a big part of the offense. None of our RB's averaged 10 carries per game.

Stewart might be able to make more money somewhere else after this contract, but it has to be appealing for a RB to be able to conserve his body and add years to his career by sharing playing time with another stud RB in lieu of taking a big pay day and being a work horse carrying the ball 30 times a game... see Michael Turner.

Although RB by committee has become the norm around the league, most teams still put the majority of the workload on one RB. We are fortunate enough to have 2 skilled guys that still have years of tread left on the tires.

Stewart played a higher percentage of our offensive snaps than any RB in our division.

One comment that I thought was interesting was Hurney saying that Cam last year was the safest pick...just goes to show who public and media opinion don't always mesh with what teams see and find when scouting players.

And I want to add that there has only been one 2nd round pick under Hurney that I feel he completely missed on and that was Shelton. Not all have panned out but that is something that goes on the player and coaches more than the GM IMO. And before someone brings up Edwards he was a 3rd round pick. Brown was a big mistake for what they gave up to pick him but not so much of where he was drafted, again IMO.
