QB is the most important guy on a team, why not go out and get Matt Flynn this past offseason. Let one ride the pine while the other plays. Switch em up, but only one is on the field at the same time.

We could pass it, Cam could run it, Tolbert could run it, draft a cheap RB to run it.......yeah, I think there are means to get around what to do after your stud RB breaks a long run w/o the option being bringing in an elite RB who was watching from the bench

Since the whole league is consumed with the passing attack, running game could be ahead of the curve. Also, less Newton running would be better, we are screwed if he gets hurt. The DWill contract can be restructured like Smitty. The future of the the team is keeping Cam healthy and the best way to keep him healthy is to utilize an elite ground game so he doesn't have to be considered a part of our ground game except when he is presented with great opportunities out of the passing game scrambling. I don't want him doing flips over the goal line except in the playoffs or Super Bowl. It might not be a passing league if the other 31 teams weaken their run defense by focusing on pass d.

I'm not putting it past Marty Hurney to sign Stewart to an extension. I really think that the Deshaun Foster years scarred him and he is scared shitless about possibly losing a running game. He is a useless GM though...wow. We better hope he has a good draft this year because our cap room for impact players on defense is going to be nada in the future.

At this point I'm just hoping he doesn't screw us out of so much cap room that we can't offer Cam a max contract. That is something that needs to be put in place YEARS in advance...not months.

I found what Hurney said interesting, though not surprising. If you guys take what he said seriously, Kuechly must be strong consideration, whereas riskier picks like Poe and Coples may be less attractive options.

You are too focused on 1 player being named.

Depth/competition on this team is weak. Mainly the defensive side of the ball. We could of used a lot of players last year.

So thin we treat Godfrey like a stud. So thin Captain had ton be our #2 CB. So thin we lose an unknown aging DT we just picked up in FA and are immediately screwed. So thin when our LB who blew out his ACL out twice in a small window went down again we didn't have a solid option.

But yeah....let's pay a lot of money for a RB to stand on the sideline

We are going to add likely 4-5 players to the defensive side of the ball in about 2 1/5 weeks to compete. There will be plenty of competition.

And the salary cap is easily worked around. We just opened up @6 million with one swoop of the pen with Steve Smith's extension.

If Stewart leaves and D-Will gets hurt people will complain we weren't deeper at RB.
