Panthers Like Cb Gilmore

The Special One

Recommended Posts

This guy just keeps on rising up boards. A month 2 months ago he was destined to go in the second. Now he's a possible tip ten reach. I like him wouldn't mind it at all even it is a reach. As long as u get a player u want, who cares if people say its a reach

There are 2 or 3 teams between the Panthers and Jets who could use a CB. The Bills, Cowboys, and (a distant chance) Cardinals all are potential landing spots. I wouldn't trust a trade down if the Panthers really want to pull the trigger on this guy.

Is Gilmore worth a #9 pick? I love the guys size and skills. But I don't know if he's worth a 9th pick.

Given the new Rookie Payscale, the traditional thinking is out the window.

If the Panthers believe that Gilmore is the answer at starting CB....then yes, he is worth the 9th pick.

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
