Bigger Need....olb Or Cb?

If we go Dline in the first round, what position is more important to restock to the panther's front office, OLB or CB in the 2nd round?

Granted, one will go BPA, but their will be a lot of choices. (OLB-David or Brown, CB-Hosley or Robinson)

Currently, we have only one healthy starting linebacker James Anderson, two starters returning from IR, and our depth consists of special team's standouts.

With cornerbacks, we have a starter, a nickelback, and 2 interesting players; Brandon Hogan and Darius Butler.

Recently, we picked up Reggie Smith to compete with Sherod Martin, yet one of these players can play the cornerback position if needed.

At this point, I wish we could trade down and have 2 second round picks to select one of each.

So, what position is more important to us? Let's Discuss

Trade Stew and then take BOTH in the second round.....yep, I went there.

I disagree if Capt played better man to man he wouldn't have given up so many 3rd down plays. Like I said if the front 7 had played better then I would dogged the Safties more. But it is hard to guard against Play action when getting Gashed by the run.

Not disagreeing that Captain didn't give up those plays.

Just pointing out the easy and huge TDs were tied into our S play. The Ss were just bad in general.....some was tied into them worried about the run but even on clear passing downs they made the same mistakes.

Are you smoking crack? This draft is VERY deep at CB. You can get an instant upgrade anywhere in teh 1st or 2nd round in this draft.

No, I'm smoking opium.

And I mean second rd. corners who are under 6'0". Other than Claiborne, Kirk, Gilmore and JJ, we already have the rest on our team.

If I have to choose between Hosley who I really like, Denard , etc. Id take Brown or David over a cb in the 2nd.

That's a tough one kind of.

We have a ton of CBs who aren't very good and we have a few good OLBs who can play but probably can't hold up physically.

I could see the team drafting both positions . CB for potential improvement and OLB for depth/future

The entire premise is off for me. Cause i want a Corner in the first then a DE or DT in the second so... Wait till our 4th and 5th to address our Linebacker Depth. What would make it even better is a trade down. Bump linebacker up to 2nd or 3rd round pick we acquire for moving down. EX. Kirkpatrick, Andre Branch, Nigel Bradham.

This is a bit tricky IMO. If everyone is healthy then I think I agree with CB, given what we know. However, Rivera and McDermott know more of what to expect from Hogan than we do. If they think he can be an upgrade over Captain then CB is not as big of a need. Also, the 'if everyone is healthy' is a huge factor. I love TD and have seen the Beason video but just bc we want them to be and think they can be 100% for the season doesn't mean they will. If we take Cox or Brockers and between that pick and Ron Edwards we significantly improve our DLine play, that will also make the CBs jobs easier. Not to mention if one of the safeties we brought in is an upgrade to Martin (likely), that will help the CBs. I would have to think they will be looking realy hard at LB and the secondary in the upcoming OTAs. That may help them make their decision if they are split on BPA.

I agree that Captain should only see the field due to an emergency and maybe on ST's (although he wasn't very good there either).

Safety should be okay. I expect Reggie S. will start at FS.

We may be okay with Butler and Hogan, but if the right player is there, don't hesitate to draft a CB.

LB's are easier to find and are cheaper, so if necessary, we can find one after June 1st cuts.
