But yeah even if you don't like their music, there could not be better representatives for the State of NC than those two.

Doc Watson, Warren Haynes, John Coltrane, and Earl Scruggs are better representatives to me. poo I like Eric Church more than the Avett Bros and I really don't like Eric Church.

I understand growing up and having families and trying to pay bills but when you put out songs like "Heart like a kickdrum" you no longer have my respect.

And Led Zeppelin did NOT have any bad songs.....haha.

That's interesting. I've never heard of their their early acoustic stuff referred to as a gimmick, but I could see some heavy metal scene kids thinking it was. I have to say I own their first Nemo album and it really isn't that great. The "Oh What a Nightmare" side project is much better, because the brother's songwriting and melodies are much stronger.

Congrats on your bands' moderate success. Playing music is awesome, but to get paid for it is even more incredible.

What's interesting is most charlotte bands have gotten frustrated at one point or another and considered doing something totally off the wall or ridiculous to get noticed. I knew the Truckstop Preachers pretty well before they started doing all the crazy costume and giant foam hat bits. Nobody noticed them back then, but now if I mention that band to someone who follows the local scene they know who they are, all because of the crazy outfits.

Maybe it was a comment in jest by one of the Avett's and it was taken too seriously. Who knows. All I know is it worked for them and that's great.

Oh yeah, by representative I meant they are down to earth, nice people. I don't hardly listen to that album "I and Love and You". The bad song statement was referring to pre-ILU. If you want to see what all the fuss is about listen to Mignonette or Four Theives Gone. If you hear the song "Nothing Short of Thankful" and you don't like that, they are just not for you.

Most definetly, usually for me it takes one song then slowly the entire album. Just started listening to Los Lobos, one song the Town got me hooked, been listening to all there stuff recently. Ill check that song out though.
