Was Just Looking Back At The 2001 Draft.

I was just running things through my mind about a "re do" of the 2001 draft, and was thinking about where Steve Smith would be drafted if it were done today.

The first few rounds of that draft may be some of the best in the last 20 years.

That said, if you could re do that draft, where would SS go in your opinion?

I am thinking certainly top 10, but curious if it would be top 5.

hard to predict who would take him, but as far as career production he's certainly top three, with reggie wayne and LaDanian Tomlinson.

i believe the browns would have taken him at 3. But then his career would have been pretty average

Holy poo, the Browns drafted awful that year. Every one of their picks in the first 3 rounds is surrounded by Pro Bowlers and they took 3 busts right in the middle of all that talent. That takes a special kind of awful GM to do that.

DT is such a hard positiion to scout..

High bust rate too...hate to draft Cox, Brockers or Poe and Jerrell Worhty turns out to be the next big thang..

This draft has so many different ways to go..none are terrible..but none wow you either...at least at 9.

Brees would have been first overall and a Falcon, probably still to this day. Smitty would have been a first rounder, might have been a Bear, poor fella. Ken Lucas would have been a third or fourth instead of a second. Houshwhatshisname would have been a first. Rob Bironas and Shayne Graham might have actually been drafted, and Antonio Pierce definitely would have been.

Great draft.
