Tony Fiametta FB Syrcause

Recommended Posts

Thank God we got a blocking-only FB in the 4th. Those guys NEVER turn up in UDFA.

You're right, we should have just waited until after the draft and crossed our fingers and rubbed a lucky rabbit's foot that we could find a good blocking RB in UDFA that we wouldn't just end up cutting after training camp (since that has worked out so well for us befo rather than pick the best FB in the draft. Thank you so much for setting us straight.

So give FB the OL/DL treatment?

This has been a near-perfect draft so far. I'm about ready to switch back out of the FireFox symbol to be honest. Fiametta is a great, great pick. I was at a Syracuse game last year and he delivered what was the greatest block I've ever seen in college football when he absolutely decleated someone from Miami Ohio. Think about what Brandon Jacobs did to Nick Hayden last year x10.

For those of you that wondered why I was somewhat disappointed with the pick... I just figured with the guy's physical tools, he would be a threat to run as well. We wouldn't really need it because JStew is our banger, but still. And I would've liked our FB/H-Back of the future to be a threat catching out of the backfield with Hoov's performance, or lack thereof in that aspect...

Seems a great fit as a blocking FB, and that will be of great value if he supplants Hoov. My problem is we have other GREATER needs that haven't been addressed and the players I have in mind are not on Kiper's board.

Great Pick. Top FB in the draft, wouldn't have been there by our fifth round pick.. packers took the FB out of LSU before our 5th rounder

This guy is a monster. 30 reps! 4.6 - 40 time! Come on. He is an athletic fullback that will learn from Hoover (who is turning 33) and then be able to come be a solid FB for the next (hopefully) 8-10 years. This was a great pick.

I read a report that Fiametta could challenge Hoover in training camp for the starting FB role. He is an athletic fullback, a big-hitter, and extremely strong, i dont know how you can complain when we have an aging FB in Hoover.

Although, Fiametta is not a good ball carrier- he is an average receiver. But Fox doesn't look at a FB as more than a lead blocker anyway. Hoover had 9 attempts for 18 yards last year on the ground, with 6 receptions for 39 yards.

I like the pick. If we are going to run it, we need a FB who knows what his job is. Too many teams try to convert a RB into a FB, and usually fail.

With this pick the Panthers are announcing to league to expect more of the same. We are going to run the ball down your throat!

He was very likely BPA. He's good, I just don't think we needed to burn a pick to get someone to clear space, especially since Hoover isn't going anywhere this year.

I'm a Syracuse homer but they've sucked for the past few years, so you need to find reasons to watch. Last year Tony Fiametta made games watchable. Syracuse doesn't have dominant running backs on its roster but with Tony blocking everyone of them was able to make great plays. Our QB situation has been terrible and the run is all we've had and the offensive line hasn't been very good. Every run came through Tony. Trust a guy who has watched the majority of his college games, this was a great pick for the Panthers.
