What Would Your Draft Moves Be

if you could do WHATEVER you wanted in the draft.. (within reason), what would it be.. what scenarios would you try to make play out??

for me, If I'm carolinas GM..i trade back to about an early second round pick in exchange for a decent DT and a 3rd round pick. Draft Janoris Jenkins with the 40th. Trade Stewart for a 2nd and 3rd pick and a decent skills posistion player for the depth chart. That fills all our needs, gives us Depth, and Frees up Cap space..it also gives us 3 extra early picks to give Cam some targets and more defense (and we could pay them too!) If for some reason (which i doubt) all the good CB's get taken before 40.. then oh well, we use our pick for some serious line reinforments..this plan works for me..

i wanna make it clear, i like Stewart, and i would like to see him stay.. so lets not get into the bs drama that accompanies any mention of him. I want to know what your scenario is for putting the best chance of winning on the field.

Trade down out of the first round and load up on 3rd round picks so we can have a roster full of Dan Connor caliber guys (hopefully mostly white). We need to get back under the radar, this is all making me nervous.

Did you just trade Stewart for not only a 2nd, but also a 3rd, AND a player?

hes spent his entire career splitting carriers, hes not beat up, hes just about garunteed 1000 yards a season, and we wont slap a franchise tag on him.. sounds good to me. he is an instant offense changer. and im thinking like a special teams guy, or a 2nd/3rd on the depth chart...not a big deal

it doesn't break down to one scenario, but addressing two important components of defense we're lacking in (DL, secondary) would be a big help in order to combat the ever increasing spread formations in this league both in better coverage and giving the QB less time in the pocket. For defensive linemen you also need to look for who also defends the run better, and you need to get a franchise type player in the top 10. You don't draft insurance, you don't draft guys who don't play in key positions. Also, CBs and 4-3 DEs are two of the most expensive positions to pay for a good free agent.

So at 9, Claiborne, Coples, or best DT.

at 40, whatever you didn't draft from the first round (so, for instance, if you picked Coples at 9, pick either a CB or DT, depending on where there is better value; as a 2nd example, you could take Fletcher Cox at 9 and Nick Perry if he's there at 40). Perry's probably my 2nd favorite DE besides Coples.

not worried about spending our highest picks on bolstering the offensive line. most great linemen are had in later rounds anyway (Carl Nicks was a 4th round pick for instance). You don't need 8 first round picks to have a good linebacking core.

We also need a really good punt returner. I'd love Joe Adams but I feel like he's just going to be overdrafted by either a team that doesn't have many glaring holes, a team that just doesn't give a poo or a team with too many picks between the 2nd and 3rd rounds. If it was between him and a "scat back" i'd pick Adams because he can also contribute as a WR but tbh this team is so fuging busy this offseason retooling a record-setting running game I wouldn't be surprised if they took the scat back (even though Stewart and Tolbert had like a combined 100 receptions last season between them)

We would be LUCKY to get a 2nd rd pick for him. Extremely lucky. RB's have little trade value, especially one due a contact at the end of the year.
