Makes you wonder if he would rather retire than play for less. Probally much less.

Personally, I couldn't care less what Shockey does. His play is tapering off and I'd be happier seeing more of Olsen and less of Shockey. His presence is awesome and his wily veteran skills are capable, but Olsen is more than capable and ready to be a stud in this offense.

Of the two tight ends last year Shockey impressed me more than Olsen did honestly. Make no mistake, Olsen was good, but he wasn't clutch or as much of a fighter as Shockey was. A 31 year old Shock had more fire and passion than half the guys on the field. If we can get him for cheap it wouldn't even be a question in my mind.

Olsen is a significantly better player. He's strong, fast and tall and still seems like he hasn't hit his full potential yet. Shockey brings a very special mentality to the lockerroom and field, and it's a very similar mentality to Cam/Smith/Rivera. We need more of these guys on the team, despite how much they can actually produce on the field. Football still is all about playing as a team so I hope shockey comes back, hes one hell of teammate.

While I loved giving up a 3rd for Olsen and extending his contract, and I do think he is and will be a great TE, he seems like kind of a pussy in the relative context of NFL tight ends and players in general. And Shockey seemed more effective last year. Don't read too much into that, because I love Olsen, I'm just saying.

He's got the talent and athleticism but his heart isn't 100% in it. Thats what I see at least.

You can give 100% without running your mouth every other play. People always assume the guy who shows his emotions is the only one who cares.
