Beason Lookin Strong

So that means that Anderson would have to come off the field who we just gave a huge extension too, you do realize we have him and beason for at least the next 5 years right?? That is a waste of money to only be playing 2 downs. I think at this POINT IN TIME the panthers are just looking for depth at the LB position and not a elite talent. I dont think there are gonna draft a guy in the first round for a "just in case" situation concerning injuries and even if they did Kuechly still wouldnt make much a difference wants he had to take over if somebody went down. We need that elite talent at other positions right now, drafting a LB right now is not gonna make this team better, what good is it gonna do us against teams like the saints, packers, lions??? thats not how you beat them.

I realize that Anderson is just like Godfrey.....just guys.....we overpaid. I am hoping Rivera and company help end that trend. Luke isn't a 2 down LB if he is what he appears to be.....he also doesn't project to be JAG.

How is Carolina just looking for depth? We have Beason coming of an injury. That is really it.

What we need to do on D is to get better QUICK. Sign a vet DT and draft BPA on D. Not sign projects with top draft picks on D. Best way to help Cam is to give him a D. Doesn't make since to pass on talent we can plug in ad start for a project at #9.

If Luke gives us a better starting lineup at LB....that makes us better. We got abused last bc of weak LB play and Beason coming back doesn't solve it all. Need to upgrade around him and forget Davis. 3 ACL injuries to the same knee means he is done.....just a matter of time.

What? What Anderson are you talking about? Cause you definitely isn't talking about James and comparing him to GODFREY of all people

I wish I could find the link to the audio of the guys on Sirius NFL talking about this exact type of injury. Was very informative. The long and short of it was that a complete tear was better than a shredding of the achilles. The types of surgery that have been done recently involved grafting a pig's tendon and the tissue can actually come back stronger than the original parts. The trick is to get the tendon to stretch and be pliable enough throughout the healing and rehab process. Successful surgeries often involved a heavy amount of "tightness" that involved a good amount of stretching before practice and gametime.

Personally, from what I saw in that video, I would not have thought that Beason would have been able to cut as hard as he did this early in the rehab process. More impressively, the stints with running with the weight sleds were pretty jaw-dropping for anyone that's done that kind of thing before.

I said early on that if I were to put money on anyone coming back from such a devastating injury, it would be Beason. He has youth and (more importantly) will on his side to a degree that few people on this planet share. I hope that McClain and Fua are doing their part along with Edwards and the rest of our signings in getting our DLine in order. That would go a lot further in getting some real teeth in our D back.

Either way, I am putting my faith in Rivera et al to get these guys ready with a full offseason to make this roll. With a force like Beason at the helm, it can do nothing but push us ever closer to this goal.

James Anderson is just a guy. When your team sucks and JAGs are the best on the field.....it doesn't mean they aren't JAGs. Last year we had no one on the field.

Anderson and Godfrey are different kinds of JAGs but both are.

No, you can call J.A just a guy who isn't dominant, but no way in hell you compare him to Godfrey. He goes out there and do what he's supposed to every Sunday even with all the shuffling of our LB's. Most of all he stays healthy

I said they both get the JAG label for different reasons....I acknowledge there is difference in how they play and consistency.

Both are just guys though.

FYI, an achilles injury has much more impact on forward/rear movments, not lateral. Beason looks fast, strong, and near impossible to tell he was even hurt.

Nobody is saying he could play today. But the thing is, HE DOESN"T NEED TO! He still has 5 more months to continue rehab/strength building/quickness.

Without a doubt he will be ready to play week 1.

Actually it has a huge impact on all types of foot and ankle movement. In particular when you need to explode in any direction and push off. You can't tell anything about what he can do or not do unless you are comparing him to someoene else or to his pre- injury ability.

No one is saying he is ready now or has to be. What I am simply responding to, are the idiots that act that he is all the way back and that this video proves he is ready. It doesn't show any of that. All of us hope he continues to improve and get stronger and faster. But until that time proclamations that he is fine or that we don't need any linebackers is very premature.

Do you think he will be ready to play in 5 months?

He looks ever so slightly not as explosive as before, but you watch. He will be 100% if not 110% come TC.

Dickweediest post ever maybe

(I am a therapist, so not just talking out of my rear here)

The comment about a little lack of explosiveness is probably on the mark too. He has a long time to build it back, but it's all about muscle memory & that doesn't come back quickly, b/c he's had to avoid this type of thing for so long.

So much for dickweediest post ever

So you think Luke isn't just a "guy"?

Not if he is what he projects to be coming out.....he was viewed as the best LB in all of college football for a reason. Whether of those 2 JAGs the best at there position in college football?

But everyone is a gamble to various degrees.
