Beason Lookin Strong

The point of bringing Kuechly in is that it is unlikely that Beason and Davis will both make it back 100%. If either goes down it leaves a huge hole.

Even if TD never plays another snap for us, I don't think we'd have a "huge hole". You don't have to have 3 very good to great LBs, especially at the expense of other positions. James Anderson and Beason and whoever they lined up at WLB, whether it's a LB currently on the squad or a 2-5th round pick (Demario Davis is my personal favorite prospect for where he will likely be drafted around the 4th or 5th, but there's Zach Brown in the 2nd, Lavonte David also possibly in the 2nd (but I think that's a little high for him with his size), Sean Spence in the 4th, one of the Texas LBs in the 4th or 5th, Terrell Manning in the 4th or 5th or whoever else) would make for a very solid LB corps. Even if that 3rd LB spot is manned by a scrub this year, that's still 2/3 of a very solid LB group, whereas our CB group currently has nothing outside of Gamble and our DL has little outside of CJ.

Our secondary and DL have much more gaping holes than the LB corps, even if TD never plays again.

Better Dline in front of them will help also.

I'll put this out again there are more serviceable LB in FA then there are DT, DE, or CB.

So LB help can be found after the draft while DL can't be right now. Now after June 1st who knows.

Yes, it will and I expect the DL to be better this year. Offense is ready to win now....ST can be an easy fix.....defense needs immediate help. DTs in this draft won't provide much right away. A LB like Luke can. My stance is pretty simple. Get players that can help Cam immediately on D.

That assumes that Beason will be 100% as well. That is far from a certainty. I have Beason's jersey and wear it proudly on some game days. I want him to be back even better than before but wanting and having are often very different things. What that video shows is inconclusive at best. Until I see him lined up against other guys or at least see some timed drills, that doesn't show much. Much like youtube highlights, it looks great but it is worth very little. In the meantime avoiding drafting someone with the expectation that Beason will be 100% is like counting on Davis coming back as well. If either comes backs 100% this year it will be the first time that has happened. Maybe I am jaded from previous years but when have we been exactly lucky with injuries????

As for other positions on D, we could definitely use upgrades at some other positions. But at this point we have sure starters at every position but linebacker.

CRA could you be more of a douche?

Sure I could. I could call people douches who think differently and have different opinions about a football teams moves. Obviously I am still learning.....thanks for showing me how it is done.

We got people who are pessimistic and other people who are optimistic. Im a optimistic type of person, good for Beason, running with weights attached to him, cutting and turning on the dime, sprinting and jogging, Beason looked good out there, they say it takes a year to fully heal, I'm happy to have Beason back in the field, to all the people who are pessimistic, I understand you views, I like to hope for the best, you like to prepare for the worse, lets leave it at that.....

And some of us are realistic. We hope that Beason can return to his same dominating self...but also realize that this is not a given no matter how much we wish it. Beason is not a super hero and does not have special healing powers.

Will he be the same....maybe eventually. But it is doubtful if he is able to be this season.

We will have to wait and see him on the field.

this video shows you that a man who is coming off a torn achillies injury can now execute moves that translate to the football field. shuffling, cutting, breaking, backpeddling, and sprinting. yeah we dont know how he will look in game play, or his repsonse to contact but considering that this injury happened in sept this is a pretty successful video. for the guys saying this video shows nothing you are obviously not translating the moves he is executing to the field. planned or not, you still must respond and react to the voice on a dime. and coming off an achillies injury this is a pretty good sign that he will be back, and helping this team on the field.

My opinion would be that in a dime package we would have 3 linemen, 2 linebacker and 6 Secondary guys (Dbs and safeties)

it works when your 3 down linemen can all get to the QB.if not 1 of those LBs will have to blitz to make more pressure, or the QB will still sit back and pick you apart.

It is opinion Beason will be 100% bc he posted a workout video.

We already knew Beason was working out. Video of it changes little.

This video doesn't prove he can play football at 100% this season...... and saying it doesn't, isn't an opinion. Put down the homerade.

Yea except it does show something and no one has said he was 100%. But keep making stuff up and acting like everyone else does not know what they are saying. Everyone knows you can't fix stupid.

The goal much of the time is to make the quarterback throw underneath routes and keep things short. I remember using lots of dime against Warner when he played for Arizona. He was very tough to sack but you tried to hurry him. By using 2 linebackers and 3 linemen instead of 3 linemen and 1 linebacker, you can make it harder for the linemen to establish their blocking assignments. I am sure teams do it both ways.

Actually it doesn't show those things. It shows he is regaining his mobility and is in great shape. There was not much lateral motion besides about 2 or 3 yards one way or the other and there were no full out sprints. even the lateral work was short chop steps and not the full out lateral stretching you would be making if you have to pursue someone laterally. You are obviously optimistic about what you saw and that is fine. Fan stands for fanatic and no one says you have to be realistic or pessimistic. But to assume that video shows he is ready to play this year is beyond optimistic. Again I hope he does come back 100% given the contract he was given last year. We already wasted millions on last year and I would hate that we could do the same this year. But concluding much from that video just reduces any poster's credibility, IMO. Davis looks pretty good in drill last year as well and we saw how that turned out.
