Melvin Ingram Vs. Quinton Coples On Sport Science

I'd take Ingram over Couples in a heartbeat. Melvin has a none stop motor and is more versatile.

I didn't know that Ingram could play 4-3 DE, DT, 3-4 DE... Ingram is a Tweener DE or an 3-4 OLB and that's it, not more versatile at all. Silly statement and I like both players about the same draft wise. (Just don't like that Ingram has really short arms combined with his height.

Saying he has short arms as if that's an end-all statement is just ignorant.

A guy whose arms are over an inch shorter than Ingram's has had more sacks over the past two seasons than a freak like Julius Peppers. Arm length is not everything at all by a long shot.

But holy poo, I never thought I'd agree with Grits. Guess there's a first for everything.

He can play 4-3 DE or OLBer in the 3-4. Can also play on offense, in the backfield or used as a extra tightend. Remember how the Patriots used Vrabel in the redzone? Not to mention a beast on speciel teams. I remember how the Ravens used Adalius Thomas all over the field and i see Ingram in the same mold.

The word I like to use is disruptive. Ingram has that in spades. IMO, you can never have enough disruptive forces on your team.

Or how about versatile then? I was under the dillusion that coaches covet players that bring multiple skills, as well as playing multiple positions.

Throw in athletic, with a nose for the ball, and you have a player worthy of a #9 pick.

Personally, I would love grabbing Ingram, Then, If Worthy is sitll there at #40, I would grab him as well. THAT very well could SHORE up our D-line for a long while.

Our D-line goes from a weakness to a strenght. With Beason back, and Hogan having a full year under his belt. We could move ever so close to being what we want to be. Which is COMPETITIVE.

My giddy is giddy over the future I tell ya what. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Ingram could make just as good OLB as DE. He could be both and an overall interesting fit in our defense. What I really like is that he is a playmaker. He can force a turnover and change the pace of a game on his own. Coples has the presence yet inconsistencies.

I would be just as pleased with Ingram, Kuechly, or Cox. One of those three would be really interesting fits to our team.
