Looking like Champ and DJ Williams are gonna play

Champ hasn't lost a step. You would think so because he didn't get many picks last year. He only gets thrown on 15 times a season and those throws are rarely completed.

homer. he has and he is also hurting.

he may still be good but he isn't as good as he was. he has been thrown on a lot more this year.

Drew Brees threw 40 plus passes against us and not one of them were thrown on Champ. Randy Moss didn't catch one pass until Champ got hurt and then went on to score 2 TD's against us.

The only QB that tested Champ this year was Philip Rivers and he got one of his passes picked off.

Champ will not play unless he is 100 percent. He has been practicing for the past 3 weeks. If Champ plays whoever he covers will be shut down.

Bailey has been limited for some time and will not practice fully until Saturday in hopes of playing Sunday. Doesn't he has a deep groin tear? Those injuries are usually chronic and can be reaggravated at any time. If the Broncos are smart you save him for the last 2 games and the playoffs since you aren't likely to win this one anyway and if he gets reinjured it makes it that much harder to have him when you need him.

If Champ plays he will be fine. Champ wanted to play at Atlanta and he didn't. He was only supposed to be out 4-6 weeks. He has been out the bye week, Miami, Cleveland, Atlanta, New York, Oakland, and Kansas City games (8 weeks). Before the KC game he said he was fine but Shanahan sat him out because we didn't need him.

Champ should be good to go.

Then why is he limited in practice. Fine means he should be practicing fully just like the other guys are. Must not be as great as you think. Either way we will be fine. Champ is good but so is Smith. I don't really know anyone who can cover him one on one especially a player who has been out almost 2 months and has a groin injury which if anything will keep him from cutting as sharply and accelerating as quickly.

But I hope he is fine. I want you guys at full strength so we can gauge where we are at this point. There will be no easy games from here on out either in the regular season or the playoffs.

Bailey is not the same player he was a few years ago no matter how much Bronco fans say otherwise.

That's not true. He's every bit the best CB in the NFL when healthy, which he's been most of the time till a few weeks ago. It's not Bailey having problems, it's the Broncos non-existent pass rush and the moron known as Bob Slowic, our DC who insists on playing our corners 8 yards off the line of scrimage.

Champ is the Truth.

Champ can cover him 1 on 1.

He and Aso are a step above everyone else.

This is unfortunate.

Run game has to be a clicking once again.

A healthy Champ maybe but groin injuries tend to be nagging and easily aggravated. Look at Hartwig last year for us. Mobility and quickness are greatly affected by a groin injury and the fact that he hasn't practiced fully suggests it is not that great. Even if he starts he may not finish. In the end Smith will be lined up at several positions and unless Champ follows him all over the field, Smitty will get his catches although perhaps not as many as otherwise. Moose and Jarrett will have to step up this game.

Tons of respect for Champ from me.

I think this will be the first time Champ and Smitty throw down.

Should be fun to watch.

Also noticed you still have McCree, he better not hurt anybody, or we will turn Harris loose!:angelsad2:

to the Denver fan.

If Bailey plays, Jake will test him. Jake will attempt to throw on anyone in the league if they choose to cover Smith. We will see what happens. When we played Oak...who do you think was the 1st corner Jake threw on? Yeah, he got picked.....I would deem that game Jake being horrible more than them shutting Smith down. Smith had a good step on him the 1st pick Jake just made a poor throw. Smith was beating guys all day in Oak, Jake made poor reads and had no accuracy. Smith will have success if Jake isn't fairly accurate imo....maybe not a huge day but no corner can cover him in man all day and not get beat if a QB is having a decent day. Smith can find the right routes to get open on.....guys like Moss can't run all the same patterns as well and find as much success. I think Denver gives who every covers Smith help.

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
