When looking at potential trade partners I realized that none of us have a clue and anything can happen. With that said, here is a mock in which the Patriots package their 2 first round picks to move up into the top 10.

Patriots get:

Round 1: #9

Round 5: #143

Panthers get:

Round 1: #27

Round 1: #31

Round 3: #93

Round 1 (#27)

Nick Perry, DE/USC

I'd like it though I don't see us getting that lucky. I'm a huge Nick Perry fan and I alost wouldn't even be against taking him at 9.

Eh, like most of it. Perry's good and all, but I'd rather avoid players even close to the "tweener" label with our first pick. I'd be much happier with this if that #27 was spent on one of the DTs (Brockers, Cox, Poe, Still, Worthy, one of them will be available there) or even Kendall Wright. I wouldn't hate the Perry pick, but I'd have my reservations. Like the rest of it though.

Really nice draft.

I just dont really like Perry, bc again hes an undersized DE.

Gillmore may also be gone way before #31.

I wish we could trade down with the Pats though, it was be awesome.

Good mock though!

He's 270-275 pounds. He can easily put on 10-15 pounds of muscle with his frame. FWIW, Jason Pierre Paul is 278 pounds...

The only snag, it's that the pats don't trade UP.

As I said in my mock with this exact same trade a few months ago, Pat's I believe will be much more likely to trade up now. There is less of a financial risk involved now that there is the rookie cap, and the Patriots need to maximize the time they have left with Tom Brady. They need guys to come in and make an impact now, to make the best use of Tom Brady's 3-4 years left, not late first round guys that will take a year or two to develop into good starters.

    • Some of you who are not sold on Canales are insane. His main purpose was to turn around Bryce Young’s career and he did that. Of all of the teams in the top 10 of the NFL draft, we were the team that was consistently showing the most fight week in and week out. Our players never quit on the season. The offense which he is responsible for took a huge step forward compared to last year, despite the lack of skill talent  that we have. It was our defense that was a mess. That’s one of my critiques on Canales. He should’ve gotten rid of Evero and hired his own DC that shares the same vision. But as a whole, I can’t see how people are not pleased with what Canales did with this team. I’d give him an 9/10
    • One of the first thoughts after the game yesterday was that JT was going to jump all over it. He's been more favorable about BY from the beginning, and so yesterday must've felt like Christmas.
    • Maybe, but they were always going to be an impossible team to accurately mocked right now. They have an absurd amount of cap room, what they need right now will not be what they need come draft day.  They can make multiple big splash signings and even make trades for players who need new contracts and their teams don't want to give it to them. OT and WR might be their two biggest needs right now, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to think they could go into the draft needing neither of them.  I think a LT will be their top FA priority, also think they're going to make a big offer to Higgins, and I could see them being a team in the running to trade for someone like DK Metcalf as they need a WR like him and they have the cap space to give him a big new contract.
