Day 2 of 2009 Draft

Let's be honest. Brady was luck as much as it was skill. They took him in the sixth because he was on their draft board. Nobody knew he was going to become a star. Had they known, they wouldn't have kept him benched behind Drew Bledsoe (he only started due to Bledsoe getting injured).

The Steelers can regularly let free agents go and just plug the next guy in on defense. You could argue who's better on either side, but I don't think you can say "it's not even close".

Also worth remembering that the guy who's tun the Pats front office for several years is now in KC.

The whole draft is more luck then anything. Its impossible to accurately predict how these guys will translate to the pro game. But the point is they hit on these late round picks more regularly then anyone. And what you said about the Steelers you can say the same about the Pats. They regularly let guys go and replace them easily. I mean how many teams can lose a Franchise QB (and the last years MVP of the league) in week 1 and still go 11-5.

Understood, but you said "it's not even close". That's a big part of my disagreement.

Honestly, the Eagle FO is pretty good (except when drafting receivers).
