martin was a college safety, but he went through the postseason all-star games and combine working as a corner, and the Panthers think they've found someone who can contribute immediately.

“He's coming in as a corner,” general manager Marty Hurney said of Martin. “He's an explosive kid, tough, a hard hitter. We think he's going to come right in and be part of the mix.”

I like this pick... I wanted to a DB or a OG with the pick, and looks like we got a stud. Marshall is ready to start and they can groom this guy in the nickel and on ST's...

Nickel corner is the 12th starter on defense. If he is our nickel then he will probably play more snaps than any other back up. When it comes to playing teams like the Saints he will probably play as many snaps as Gamble and Marshall.

And if they do end up leaving him at safety, then it's not the end of the world either. I'm not sold on Godfrey. He had a bad rookie season and gave up too many big plays.

Very true. I just realized that our division now has Tony Gonzalez, Kellen Winslow II and Jeremy Shockey.

Martin has good size to match up with those big receivers.
