Roger Goodell To Send Down Punishments For Saints Players Before Draft

They have earned whatever they get and then some. Also the saints fans deserve it because of how they are trying to belittle the situation with comments like, all the teams do it, no one was hurt by it and the last but not least, it’s just a metaphor.

What has annoyed me the most about the Saints fans and players is how they try to act innocent and want people to feel sorry for them and rally behind them the way the nation did after Katrina. Not happening again assholes.

This may be a shock to Saints fans but we are not counting on having to beat a decimated Saints squad in order to win the game. When Payton decided to pour it on us the last game of the season in pursuit of records to glorify his offense he gave our team all the ammunition we needed. If the Panthers didn't like the Saints before, the bountygate revelations coupled with the butt whooping the second game guarantee that the Panthers have this game penciled into their schedule. If it is the home opener as I just saw in another thread, we will have even more to play for.

As for your wonderful defensive scheme tell me again how great Spags' teams in St Louis were on defense. Let me help you. They were ranked 26th in points allowed in 2011 and 12th in 2010, both below where NO was ranked. Seems to me until proven differently, Spag's defenses were worse than Wiliams which is going in the wrong direction. He was considered a good defensive coach in New York but it may have not been him but Coughlin, similar to the way Fox made defensive coordinators look better than they were here.

But before you get too happy lets see if Brees goes back on his word and plays for you this year. Because without him, Daniels won't help you to 3 wins no matter how good the defense plays. Awful lots of fan bravado for a team that doesn't have a signed quarterback that is worth a damn.

Unless you're a Falcons fan, I don't know what you mean about Brees and records, your team just got decimated just like the Falcons the week before and Vikings and Giants and many others. It had nothing to do with records, or else Brees would have played the full game, which he didn't. You team just couldn't compete and wasn't on the same level so I don't know what you were claiming was done that was wrong? Was Brees supposed to play even less plays when he realized how much better the Saints were playing? Was he supposed to start throwing passes to the defense to help them save face? It's a game by professional athletes, Brees left the game in 3rd quarter as well as most of the starters out of respect, if you think he scored too much, then get upset with your defense, not Brees.

As for defense scheme, look up the Giants the year they beat the 18-0 Pats in SB if you want to see Spags DC work. The defensive rankings of Rams would be more a result of the DC, not the head coach. Spags entire career before Rams HC job is all on the defensive side and speaks for itself, do a quick google search and you will see. Saints ranked like 31st against the pass last year, it's basically impossible for it not to improve, especially since we now have a Lb corp solid against the run and rushers that should be able to get pressure without committing our safeties and corners into blitzes and leaving the rest of our secondaries on islands.

Actually his career doesn't speak for itself. He was an assistant under Jim Johnson, who is widely regarded as a defensive genius, and would make anyone look good. Then he went to coach under Coughlin with the Giants, and since his departure, it's unclear there was any huge dropoff in their performance.

2008 (last year of Spag) - Total defense ranked 5th

2009 - ranked 13th

2010 - ranked 7th

So the only situation where he wasn't under a well regarded defensive coach (Johnson and Coughlin) was in St. Louis where panthers55 rightly pointed out, their defense sucked.

I'm not saying he won't be a great DC for the Saints, but the historical evidence is not conclusive to say he is capable of turning around a defense.

I appreciate your willingness to come on here and share your views. It is helpful to have outside perspective; however, I believe you would do a better job as an advocate for your team if you didn't leap to over the top statements.

Instead of:

So their going to look at their roster and say, gee, which of all our new LB toys do we use at Mike this week? Look we got Greg Romeus, Bunkley, Cassillas, and Cam Jordan to take over pass rush duties.

Try:

Losing some players for part of the season may hurt, but I feel confident in our signing of Lofton to fill in the Mike duties, and we have Greg Romeus, Bunkley, Cassillas, and Cam Jordan to rush the passer. I believe this scandal will be galvanizing a force for the locker room. Combined with a new defensive coordinator who is (pardon the pun) un-tainted by this affair, our defense is going to be a lot stronger than people think.

We didn't compete that game but I won't excuses for why we played so poorly. There are plenty to go round but sometimes you just don't show up for whatever reason. We didn't show up. But lets not act like that was more than 1 game or indicative of the future. THe first time we met it took a late game TD to win by 3 points

And lets be real. How much did Daniels play? And how long did they keep Brees in stil trying to score more points once the game was essentially over and the Saints had plenty of reason to coast, most notably avoiding injury for the upcoming playoffs. If you weren't such a homer with no balance, you would have more credibility but since you present nothing but an extrememly biased analysis, anything youu might say which is legitimate gets ignored in al the over the top rhetoric. Brees played into the fouurth quartter and it had nothing to do with respect. Most of the starters were still in there for almost the whole game. Daniels didn't come into the game until the 9.29 mark of the fourth quarter. But like I said if you actually were accurate about anything you might have some credibility. Same with spags. The only time he went out on his own running a team his way, he took a team in St Louis and instead of the team getting better it regressed in his 2 years from a decent team to a terrible one. Not exactly an endorsement of his ability..

But keep up the homer comments and inaccurate statements. It just makes it better when we spank you this year. Make sure you have the balls to come back and take your beating because if you win, we have to put up with your insufferable attitude.. We at least should see you eat some crow after all the crap you keep spewing.

Given this defense hasn't played together one down for Spags, lets hold down the predictions about how great they will be at least until the preseason starts. Until you see the punishments handed out, you don't know what you have. How did that "it won't be that big of a punishment" work out for Payton.

So your 31st pass D will improve now you have a LB corps solid against the run?? mmkay. The reason no one paid Lofton what he wanted on the open market was the fact that he is a two down LB who sucks in coverage. And why should your pass rush gets any better this year? Bunkley who is nothing but a space eater?

The one thing Spags wants from his D is for his line to make pressure by themself. Your line cannot make any pressure and will most likely lose the best pass rusher for some part of the season i Smith. Go look at that Giants D-line and then look at yours. Its sad.
