How Bad Do We Need A Cb? Read This!

When did I say that

It's the clear implication, given the context. Or were you unaware of what thread in which you were replying? Are you now implying that, no we indeed do not need to spend a high draft pick on a CB, not because we have Hogan, but for some other reason?

I have watched tape on them all, and being honest, I think that Hogan was more impressive than all of them except for possibly Jenkins who would be better off if he didn't take so many chances trying to make the big play and getting burned. I think Jenkins seems to have a little more speed, but Hogan is a bigger hitter. Gilmore may be the answer but he gets caught out of position sometimes and overshoots his tackle by coming in low like a missile instead of just wrapping up. Just don't see what the hype is about Kirkpatrick and Claiborne. If we want a corner, I say trade down and get Jenkins because he looks to have the best cover skills (even if he is not the most physical).

This. I'm convinced that Kirkpatrick is more suited to S in the NFL.

He may or may not become a safety in the NFL, but he is not worth the #9 pick. If we were 'forced' to take a CB @ #9, I would choose Stephone Gilmore. For those who are propping Jenkins @ #9, just can't take that risk that high, IMHO.

Putting words in my mouth ftw.

I believe the second should be a CB, simply because Captain is not a #2 CB. But you don't see me parading around saying Hogan or Jenkins is the answer to all our problems when we have seen nothing from Jenkins at the NFL level, obviously, and almost nothing from Hogan.

Hoping that Janoris continues to fall because of character concerns, maybe even making it to 40. Although I'm not confident he will fall that far. Personally feel that he seems to be heading in the right direction after being honest about his past, admitting his mistakes, and hasn't smoked marijuana in a year.

Lets for real compare the talent.

Brandon Hogan was very good in the BIG EAST. Played in Gator and Meineke Suspended indefinitly for drunk driving.

We are giving him a chance. Kid has talent but there is several reasons he was a 4th round pick. Injury and off field red flags.

Janoris Jenkins has spent more time talking to police than his position coach. He also really should look into couples counseling as well since he has three baby mamas with four kids. Two drug arrests in three months and two fights outside of clubs. Kicked off the team finally and deservingly so.

Dre Kirkpatrick also got into some trouble but the big difference is the charges were DROPPED. He was not resisting arrest like ol JJ and was not drunk like Hogan. Not only that he was on the field enough to play in several BIG GAMES and also had the respect of the coaches.

  • 2011 BCS CHAMPIONSHIP
  • 2011 2nd Team All-American
  • 2011 2nd Team All-SEC (Coaches)
  • 2011 Preseason All-SEC (Coaches)
  • 2009 BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
  • 2009 SEC Championship

Then there is Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore much like Kirkpatrick is battle tested in a competitive conference. Honored for academics as well as what he has done on the field. I honestly can not understand why folks are wanting Janoris or relying on Hogan as alternatives to drafting Gilmore or DRe.

Care to point out who "everyone" is that is "parading around" and "touting" Hogan as "the answer?" I've read most of the threads about the draft and the ones specifically about CB's and I haven't seen anyone doing what you describe...so I'm curious where you get that idea. I'll admit I may have missed several posts, so I'm not discounting the possibility that it's happening...I'm just confused about the "everyone" and the "parading" and "the answer" parts....seems that would've caught my eye.

Is this where I write, "hyperbole FTW?"

Because many feel Kirkpatrick (not me) and Gilmore are reaches at 9. Jenkins is the only one of the 3 to slide to 40. Plus, he was a better corner than both of those guys so why not take the chance on him if he falls.

Also FYI, Jenkins only got into one fight.

I just explained my opinion a few posts ago, but I don't want you to think that I'd hate it if we draft Gilmore. I think that at number 9 he's a reach because we could get him later. Hogan made some mistakes, but the late injury is the real reason he fell, err plummeted, down the draft board. It's not like he had an injury of history. He has the talent, the only real question to me is his knee (which can be deemed a big question). Anyway...Gilmore would be a decent pick-up when considering other possible intangibles, but when I look at it just from an on-field sense, I just think that Hogan and Jenkins are more talented cover guys (from the limited clips that as a fan that I have been able to see).

Whatever man. Excuse me for not being able to keep up with this guys rap sheet. Let the BENGALS take a chance on him. He is not PANTHER MATERIAL. Remember Rae. What is gonna happen when JJ knocks up yet another young lady. Potential Cromartie type situation. Is the FO gonna have pony up a 1/4 to 1/2 million for chid support one day?
