My case for drafting Dre or Stephon Gilmore with our first pick. First and foremost Gamble is paid like a top corner but i was not impressed last year. I know our dline brought little to no pressure last year so he was left on an island too much. BUT.. i saw several plays last year where he got burned like toast. Butler and Capt both also looked lost as the number 2 guy. Hogan, Capt and Butler all are limited by size. I want that rangy, tall and fast corner like Gilmore or Kirkpatrick. Both have 3-4 inches on our existing backups to Gamble. Imagine this for a moment if our secondary loses Gamble to a injury ala Beason/ TD last year. A secondary with Hogan, Capt and Darius would get eat alive. It would be as sad as our linebackers depth this past year. Granted Hogan would likely step out of the shadows and play decent but overall it would not be pretty.

Secondly, anybody else notice the offensive weapons in our division.

Buccs- Kellen Winslow V-Jax both 6-4 or more and loads at over 230 lbs. Match up nightmares.

Saints - Jimmy Graham, Colston, also both 6-4 or and and big dudes.

Falcons - Julio Jones, Roddy White, Tony G, Who do you cover? Do we have a number 2 capable of covering Julio? Nope.

It has become a pass first league having two ultra talented corners is becoming the norm. Matter of fact do not be surprised if the Browns take Claibourne to pair with Joe Haden. Fact is we need to plan ahead to when Gamble is ineffective and have someone ready to step in. Bring more Swagga to Carolina / Keep Gilmore home in the Carolina's. That is my draft slogan's this year.

Making them work Chris Gamble ranked 4th among elite talent Revis , Grimms, Ike Taylor, had a better year the our #1 corner.

Rank 4 Team CAR TA 60 Rec 27 % Ct 45.0

Captain Munnerlyn ranked 66 with a 73.8 ct % I mean why would we put him on guys like Julio Jones , R White, Please lets get a bigger corner who can handle those offensive treats in our NFC South divison. Cap is great guy , I like him just not our #2, or even nickel just use him as dime & PR his great returning kicks and SP but #2 CB i doubt in him. Stats shows 73.8 % of the time vs #41 it was a catch for the other teams. Now this is all with the same amount of TA as Gamble Captain was Targeted 61 times gave up 45 catches top 10 worst CB's in the league in 2011,But he got a raised...Gamble earnes his $ ....

Pie for you, I'm glad we both see the mismatches between our CB's and our division rivals WR's & TE's.

Our defense did so bad last year cause of injuries, our LB's and Dline core had holes from season ending injuries. But we still had all our corners and safetys healthy and they still sucked balls. Which is why we are do for a 1st round upgrade...

Ok maybe i overstated my impression of Gamble. Yeah, he is solid and honestly has been a Probowl type player for us. SO.. one or two plays keep replaying in my head that's all. Plays where i said who was that? What happened there? Just saying we need to prepare for the future eventually. Much like the Smith situation we need to start grooming a new star. Dre or Gilmore with Hogan and Capt is that future.
