Gregg Williams Urged Saints To Injure 49Ers

I am supposed to be surprised he didn't say he agreed with Bountygate? He hits people to hurt them. Usually when I am hurt I am injured.

Look, I am fairly certain Davis is not dirty and plays the game the right way but you damn sure know that if Michael Vick and his cracked ribs comes scrambling out of the pocket headed towards Davis, he is going to purposely target his chest as hard as he can to make him think twice about doing it again. Same with a taped up ankle...a player is going to step on the field and try to play injured....fair game.

Ever wonder why when players have hurt ankles a lot of time they will tape up both of them so other players can't tell which is which in the bottom of a pile?

No, I don't know that, and neither do you.

You assume that because that's how you think it is. I'm going off what the man himself says, and what I've seen watching him play.

Gregg Williams is not the norm. He's an exception. There are others like him (John Teerlinck is a prime example) but there are plenty of guys with more honor than to try and encourage injury.

And yeah, there are dirty players too. Hence, the annual vote for who's the dirtiest. But I'd say most of the guys in the league treat it like a fraternity, especially those with friends and former teammates on the other side of the field.

That, plus I've seen plenty of guys from opposing teams showing their concern for injured opponents. Heck, Bruce Smith stood over Boomer Esaiason the whole time the medical guys were working on him, and he was the one that knocked him out.

These guys are not all pieces of s--t like Rodney Harrison and Steve Wisniewski.

I agree with that thought process 100%, I don't think all players are dirty and I think that 99% of them look out for one another regardless if they are on the other side of the field. I think 99.9% have no interest in ending another players season or career. However, it is like Carlos Rogers said about Eli in the Championship game....they knew collectively as a team that they had to find a way to get Eli out of that game. How else is that suppose to be taken? That is the point I am trying to make...it's part of the game.

Now Gregg Williams - guy has issues and you will not here me sticking up for him. They could ban him from the game altogether and I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Gotcha.

I won't deny there are guys who think that way. I just don't believe it's a majority. They know their opponent is a guy that has to feed his family too. And most are good sports who gab and exchange stories even after a hard fought game.

Williams though? He's a long-known POS, and the players he tends to go for are players that share his amoral approach to the game.

The guy definitely needs a lifetime ban.

Been a good discussion......I've enjoyed it. Now back to work....

It was a documentary film maker, it's in the first paragraph of the thread. The idiot is Williams who made these statement in front of a documentary film maker.

And this isn't who tipped off the NFL. They were tipped off years ago and this happened this year.

Well then I guess I owe Greg Williams a steak dinner!

he was trying to get his guys jacked up for the game, the only part of that was bad was the part about the acl. that is dirty but he didnt literally mean go attack somebodies head.

He outright says that what he is trying to do.

a lot of times a coach will say take his head off, or knock his dick in the dirt. they dont mean it literally. sometimes they may say take his head off, and the body will be next its all ra ra talk before a game. talking about taking a guys acl out is dirty tho.

When the "ra ra talk" you speak of is accompanied by organization-provided bounties, i.e., money for achieving a particular goal, i.e., literally injuring the subject mentioned in the "ra ra talk," it is no longer "ra ra talk" but criminal behavior. Saints fans cannot grasp this concept. I assumed Panthers fans were smarter than that.

no poo, the bounties is the only reason why this is news. the guy that even made the report said the only reason why i put this out here is because of the bounties(seen on espn). plenty of teams on every level say far fetched things before a game to get players fired up.
