Is Stewart Worth A 2Nd Round Pick?

After zone blocking left.

That said, no Stew is not worth a 2nd to anyone at the moment. During training camp when a no. 1 back goes down on a "contender" then yes, he may very well be.

We should have kicked DWill to the curb last season, and extended Stew this season.....we are so dumb....fo real.

I agree but with Denver picking at 57 in the 2nd ....show me someone who would add more value than Stewart.I am like you we gave the wrong guy the contract.

I would bet that Denver or Cincinnati would give up a second for him. However, I'd still like him to stay. The more offensive threats the better.

Or they could draft a RB whose career isn't half way over and spend less money over the next 4-5 years

What would we do with a 2nd round pick anyways? Draft another Dwayne Jarrett? Throw in some more Clausen? An Everette Brown is the missing piece in this defense...We already have a proven player in Stewart. I don't understand why people are so comfortable with the risk that comes with drafting a player, but not with the risk of trying to make a deal work and having Stewart walk. It's not like there's a scenario where Stewart walks and we get absolutely nothing.

I'm no expert on this, but don't we get something for losing him? like if we put a tender on him or something?

Whatever happened to Denver being the 1000-yard rusher factory? Since when do they value RBs so highly?

Their OLD offensive scheme generated the multiple 1,00 yard rushers. Fox and company run an entirely different scheme now. You cannot make a statement today based on a scheme that they no longer run.

I did not say I wanted him to walk.In my humble opinion he is one of the top 5 backs in the league

Because we are NOT LIKELY to be able to keep him next season. I would rather have a second today than watch him walk and hope we get a 3rd round comp pick two seasons from now.

Same people that bitched about watching Peppers walk for nothing are supporting doing the same thing with Stewart.

How is Stewart's career half way over when he splits time with Williams?

You act like our runningbacks are being abused.

Stewart and even Williams don't have the mileage on them that many other backs do who were drafted the same year as them.

You are forgetting that you are giving up the rights to a cheap young player, for a 1 year deal from Stew.

Even before the deal was finished the other team would have to work out an extension for Stew...under most circumstances.

So you are essentially trading a young cheap talent, for a 26 year old RB that is going to cost you more than we foolishly paid DWill last season.

We are NOT LIKELY to draft anyone good. Risks are risks.

I hate your logic.

It's not touches or yards, it's age. It's the ability to no longer be able to heal between seasons, camps, and for that matter games.

If it was just touches then 34 year old back ups would still be on teams.

RB is a young mans position, more than any other on the football team.
