Justin Blackmon To Visit Panthers

Yah I don't know anything, but obviously you do, right?

Gil Brandt was probably one the the many 'experts' who believed Cam would not be successful. And that Clausen and Gabbert were plug and play qb from day one bc of their experience in a pro style offsense.

Not to insert myself in this argument, but you are dead wrong about Brandt and Cam. He was one of his earliest supporters, and actually introduced him at the media session at last year's combine.

And yes, Brandt is a very well-respected guy.

Yep that was me. I think Blackmon is a better WR prospect than Julio Jones was. You can't compare NFL Julio to Blackmon now. Blackmon possess more qualities that I want in a WR regardless of the system he ran. I consider that when I evaluate players but don't think that's what makes him a good WR. Don't see why that's so laughable.

OK, then tell me. What qualities made Blackmon better than Jones?

I'm not comparing NFL Jones to Blackmon. I'm comparing college Jones. Jones accounted for more of his teams passing game and did it against much better competition. He had the numbers to back up his much superior physical attributes. The only thing Blackmon has on Jones is hands. That's it. Jones is undoubtedly a better prospect than Blackmon was.

As for the Martin/Reiff comparison? You act like Jones didn't back up his upside with on-field production. Martin looked like crap on the field, that's why nobody is going to take him over Reiff. Jones looked like a stud at Alabama.

I'm not retrofitting. I'm saying Blackmon will be taken before Floyd. Not maybe, not should, not whatever. But 'will' . If I'm wrong , I can live with it and will admit my wrong.

You are the only one claiming to know--in a childish, rather ignorant fashion. If you might be wrong, why call the other poster an idiot for disagreeing with you? In that regard, you are wrong now, and I feel you have been living with it for a long time.

Why is everyone acting like well be taking Blackmon or Floyd? Blackmon will be gone by 9th and Floyd will be a reach for us at 9th.

The whole time, it was about not taking a smaller WR over a bigger and faster WR. Not debating over two wrs. The only gm who would take a faster guy over a slower guy is Al Davis and he's dead. So if whoever want to be Davis 2.0 and try building a team with speed only, go ahead and good luck.

Get your facts right big mouth.

I called him an idiot for wanting to take a WR based on height and speed alone and not from production.

If you want Floyd, go ahead bro. I never said you couldn't. I don't care who we will draft bc any position could use an upgrade. I dont even know why I'm talking to you bc the whole time it was a debate between taking a bigger WR over a smaller WR.

Floyd will be BPA at 9. Blackmon will not make it past Jacksonville and Dolphins pretty much obligated to take BPA QB at #8. Again, this is a passing league. The more weapons the better. Panthers would score 30 points in first 30 mins of the game and then score little to no points in 2nd half. Also, in first 8 games of the season Smith had 918 yards, in last 8 game of the season Smith had 476 yards. Yes, we won more games in 2nd half of the season against weaker competition. People who refusing to believe WR is a glaring need are just blind.

We still won more games in the 2nd half of the season.

All teams like size and speed not just the raiders. Those are things you can't teach.

If you have 1 wr 5'11 with good production and a 6'4 wr with the same production and skill sets. You go with the 6'4 player all day and twice on sunday.

Everybody knows this even Madden allstars.

So you gave up Hogan? A guy who was supposed to be 1st rounder before ACL tear? What a shame. And don't tell me he's #3 because Captain is great in slot.

How about this I trust Gettis and Lafell more then I trust Hogan and so does the team making CB a bigger need.

Plus Hogan also drop to 4th because of off the field concern not just the ACL.

First, take the competition out of it. That is not under the control of Blackmon and even when he faced a good defense in Stanford he put up close to 200 yards.

I have said this in this thread but, first Blackmon has better hands than Jones. This is something that should be high on the list for a receiver. Their number one objective as a WR is to catch the ball. Jones was known for his drops and Blackmon is sure handed. You throw anything at him and he'll catch it, the easy ones and the tough ones. Secondly, he runs crisper routes. Running better routes puts him at an advantage giving him a separation on his opponents. Even though Blackmon doesn't have blazing speed, he is still not someone I'd call slow. It just might take him longer to get to his top end speed. Getting open and catching the ball, to put in simply, are qualities you desire from a WR. Both of which he does better than Jones.

There are other qualities that I like in him but I won't go as far as to say he is better than Julio, possibly even. First, he is an elusive WR considering he ins't the fastest. He puts him self in good position to set himself up for yards after the catch because of his precise route running. He can also make you miss as a tackler with his physicality and maneuvers. Also, he is an underrated blocker.

You say Jones is undoubtedly better, but the certainly can't be the case.
