Nobody cares. That is in the past. The combination of Rivera, McDermott, and Meeks is far better than Vic Fangio. Our coaches will get the best out of him.

He kept a Pro Bowl Saftey in Gholdson on the bench until he got injured. he was doing quite well for himself.

Yeah I'm seeing that now that I read 49er boards. A lot of them are upset he's gone as they preferred him starting at FS over Goldson.

At the very least they'll be competition at the safety position. RR is starting to get players on the team who fit his style and getting rid of those who don't.

Also no discussion on Martin is complete without referencing Jerry Richardson's view:

He wasn't one of those "meh whelp he's gone" players. They really liked him and thought he was on the verge of breaking out.

Aren't our safety positions interchangeable? I think I remember reading about them being interchangeable. I think Starters will be Smith and Godfrey with Nakamura as backup to both. I think they'll move Sherrod to Nickel, if anything he can use his athleticism in the Nickel and not have to think as much.
