It Is Going To Be Fletcher Cox.......

The Alabama video that keeps getting posted to prove that Cox can play is really hurting his stock. He got worked by both guards and the Alabama coaching staff even named the LG Warmack player of the week after the game versus Cox.

Couples looked bad almost all year in the ACC and yet people are calling him his equal. Don't get that either.

Umm, you do know who Warmack is, right? He's an effin' beast. I don't see how anybody could hold it against Cox for not having success against, by far, the best college OG in the nation with DeCastro gone. But Warmack was better than him, too.

Oh ok no I didn't know all of that. I guess Cox will be safe in the NFL because Warmack is going to stay at Alabama one more year.

I believe Cox is our target at #9, unless Claiborne falls. Cox has a non-stop motor, loves the game, great production in the best conference in football, and a freak athlete.

It looks like the Cowboys #14, and Eagles #15 are both hoping to God that Cox is available when they pick. I hope to God that he isn't.

I love Dlinemen with non-stop motors like Jared Allen. Jared isn't the quickest, fastest, or strongest guy.. but he gets so many sacks because he doesn't give up. Having guys with heart, are what I look for most in a defensive lineman.

Saying that, I think a fantastic second round pick would be Vinny Curry.. his motor is second to none in this draft. I think these two players would dramtically improve our pass rush, in turn, making our secondary look much better.

Cox is getting overshadowed by Poe and Brockers but he's probably the most cpmplete DT in this year's draft. That being said, any DT chosen in the 1st 10 picks would be a reach.

I still don't understand why Cox is a reach.

...so Koolkat wants to reach for Cox?

I really think that of the three DTs that Cox is the most developed and safer pick. I do think his celing is lower than Brockers and Poe but their bust potential is higher as well.. Coples included in the hight bust potential. He never flashed like Peppers just has the build..

With that said I think you draft a guy regardless of position that can help your team and possibly be a best player at that position...Decastro(not sexy), Kuchely make a lot of sense now after seeing how we have approached Free Agency to date.

That's not the point. I'm saying, you can't seriously hold it against Cox because he couldn't find consistent success against the best guard in the NCAA. Warmack is an absolute monster. Hell, he's better than every guard on our roster and most other guards in the NFL already. The fact that Warmack was deemed player of the game should not be something to hold against Cox. I'm just impressed he didn't get blown off the ball every play.

He did even worse against their other guard if you watch that video.

Why? He is a project 34 DE who will take a few years to gain the grasp of playing DT in a 43. With the 9th pick you want a guy who can come in and contribute day one, we do not have the luxury to let a player picked that high sit around and learn.

Where are you getting this from? Most scouts say he can play all the Dline Position 3-4 or 4-3.

No he didn't. In fact, just now watching the video, I saw him push Warmack back at around the 1:30 mark. Warmack set his feet and used his hands though and kept him from getting to the quarterback. Main issue I saw with him is he threw his body too much and inconsistent leverage.

What the hell are you watching? Cox is getting good pressure and penatration in the backfield. The RB is having to cut back off his pressure. Even the TV guy is saying he having a good game. He finished the game with 4 tackles 2 for lost yardage.

Do you realize that we run a 4-3 and that 4-3 lb's are actually more difficult to find now than 3-4 lb's as most colleges have shifted away from the traditional 4-3 defense to adopt the less difficult and easier defense in the 3-4 that makes even poor linebackers look like superstars?

3-4 LB is a harder position to play than a 4-3 LB.... a 3-4 OLB has to pretty much be the size of a DE while simultaneously dropping into coverage. The reason a lot of 3-4 OLB's look like superstars is because that is where the studs are put. The ILB's in the 3-4 have to deal with a lot more lineman coming at them, due to the fact they have no Dline coming in at them. That being said, unless it is an OLB in a 3-4 system, LBers are not as a highly valued position. Dline gets pressure and opens up room for your 4-3 linebackers....

P.S. A 3-4 defense is not an easier defense... Really?

He read the screen play for Richardson well. Had Richardson caught that, Cox would have stuffed him.
