The funny thing about the original NES, because you couldn't save the games, the only way to beat them was to either:

A: play it for 13 hrs straight

B: pause the game, leave the NES on overnight and come back to it later

...only part that would suck is when the game froze overnight, and 5+ hrs of gameplay is thrown out the window!

Zelda 2 for NES

I'm actually re-living my childhood frustrations playing this on the wii when I get the rare chance.

Just about any game on older systems are harder simply because you can't just save the game right where you are, very few games had checkpoints, and if you ran out of lives you had to start all the way at the beginning.
