Panthers Apparently "love" Luke Kuechly

Drafting Luke makes as much sense as drafting Trent Richardson.

Every says we should plan for them to get injured. What the hell happens if they do not get injured? If Beason is full strength do we move him to WLB? Can a rookie dictate moving a Pro Bowl LB?

Me...I do not see the separation between him and the other linebackers that can be had this year. People show me his tackling stats and I say BFD. Good to great LBs can be had later in the draft. Zach Brown, David, Kendricks can all step in and be drafted in the second round.

Did anyone watch Captain last year? Or how our DTs were gouged and the DEs couldnt set the edge. Look at successful teams like the Giants where do they put a priority?

Yeah drafting Kuechly is just like drafting Richardson because Williams had ACL surgery 3 times over the past 2 years and Stewart is coming off Achilles surgery?

Oh wait........ Both WIlliams and Stewart played every game last year.

How many did Beason and Davis play combined???? 1 1/2 games???

But it is exactly the same.......

If both Davis and Beason come back 100% it will be unprecedented in the history of football. And we should always expect that the Panthers will have better luck than anyone else with injuries. After all we are usually lucky in that department

Oh wait, you say we had 18 guys on IR last year but this year will be different????

Hey why not trade Newton while you're at it because Clausen will have a probowl season this year. That is more likely to happen than Davis and Beason coming back 100% and both playing all year.

You mad.

You keep bringing up the Giants as comparison so lets discuss the differences and similarities. The Giants don't run the same scheme as us, they generate pressure with their front four rather than using a zone blitz scheme like we do. Secondly their vaunted defense was not that great last year in the regular season. In total yards they were ranked 27th while we were ranked 28th. They gave up 25 points a game which was good for 25th and we gave up 26.8 points which was good for 27th place.

Their offense was not as good as ours as far as points per game scored ( 25.4 versus 24.5) and yards per play(6.2 versus 6.0).

Where were they much better on offense?? 4th quarter comebacks which accounted for several of their wins last year.

Sure their defense played much better in the postseason but as bad as we were on defense last year, their formula was not significantly different. Frankly look at the numbers and if we wanted to pattern orselves after a NFC East team based on defensive numbers it should be the Philadelphia Eagles who were much better on defense than the Giants in the regular season. What did they lack?? Eli Manning....................

The Giants defense is not the epitome of what we should be aiming for given that both of their SUper bowl runs the defense was only mediocre both years and they needed help both years just to get in to the playoffs. Unless the point is that the defense has to improve drastically once you get into the playoffs and I would whole heartedly agree with that.

I'm just ready for this kind of nonsense to be over with. These same people screaming for Kuechly are probably the same ones who were mad about the Deangello contract. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

What else is there to discuss??? When the draft is gone then we have another 2 months until training camp. This is at least something to talk about.

I am for Kuechly and have defended the Williaams contract. Seems to me that one is totally unrelated to the other. If people want to rant about a contract how about making Beason the highest paid MLB who played 1/2 a game last year and is likely to need another year to fully recover his ability. That is 2 years where he will have done little to earn his money. That is a much bigger waste than the Williams contract. Add Davis in there as well if you want.

So we should not emulate a team that's won the Superbowl 2 of the last 5 years.

P55 everyone...listen to him.

I knew you would go there. So okay lets trade for Eli Manning and upgrade our wide receivers because that is what got them into the playoffs last year. Right now our defense is as good as theirs based on points allowed and yards per play. Maybe we should pattern our defense after the Patriots as well, They made it to the Super bowl with the last ranked defense. What is that about their offense scoring over 30 points a game and still having Tom Brady? Ignore that, bringing in a DE will solve all that..........

Panthro is just mad because his arguments have no merit

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
