Will This Cause Claiborne To Fall?

For any one who doesn't want to be dumber than a wonderlic score of 4... should read this.

http://www.psycholog...in%20press).pdf

page 22 is quite interesting.

Other within position correlations yielded notable results. For tight ends and defensive

backs, GMA had a significant negative relationship with performance. Although the magnitude

of these relationships was modest, they could be explained by the notion that performance for

these positions entails more of an emphasis on physical ability and instinct than GMA. A

defensive back high in GMA but lacking the requisite physical abilities may take too much time

thinking about the play instead of reacting to the play. Based on these results, it may be

worthwhile for NFL teams to deemphasize WPT score performance for these positions

(especially defensive backs) when making selection decisions.

GMA=General Mental Ability.

The test actually is designed to test how "quickly" you process information under pressure. The actual questions are very easy and basic. The challenge is doing it under pressure and time constraints.

I know what it is, but in the past, has it had any effect on how good or bad NFL players are at the next level?

It didn't seem to hurt Gamble though. Sometimes I think kids aren't prepped properly for these things.

You don't need to be prepped, Do you remember when they had the take your own wonderlic? I took me three minutes and i got a 45 you literally have to be deficient to score that low.

If NFL players are this stupid, can the U.S. make an exception for newborns, who their parents think have a chance of turning pros to not attend school or get any education at all. And just play balls on the street from morning till dawn like in other countries (soccer). Also being able to turn pro at the age of 16. In this way, well be able to watch better football athletes perform on Sundays.

Most people should know by now that alot athlete's in college get carried by teachers. Teachers give them good grades because they important to the program. But honestly who care so long as they play the game and read the playbooks.

You're absolutely joking right?

People like this are going to receive degrees for knowing nothing by being carried be their professors and schools. That's why the U.S. keeps getting dumber and dumber by the day.

I know plenty of people who has to be 100x smarter than these players who gets rejected from some of these highly known schools. But, on the other hand, they accepts these dumbass just bc theyre specialty is playing football.

I love them as fb players but this is ridiculous.

I thought that some of these players had to be smarter than this.

Topic title should include his Wonderlic score so people don't keep making topics about it. A little misleading and Star Mazagine-ish in title.

It's been discussed that he has a learning disability, and I don't think he'll have to go out there and read words. Just offensives and the QBs' eyes. Doubt he falls to us, but god damn it I want him.

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
