Mayock's Top Five Dts

It's about time that he gets over the hype really. He should've looked at Poe's tape the moment the combine finished so he could make a better assessment.

I don't know why people are saying we should trade down, personally I feel we're in the perfect position. Here are the list of prospects projected to be available at 9:

DT: Cox, Worthy, Poe, Brockers

DE: Ingram, Coples?

CB: Gilmore, Kirkpatrick

OT: Reiff?

LB: Kuechly

We are spoiled for choice. There's definitely a good pick in there somewhere. It really wouldn't be the end of the world if we couldn't trade down.

. Not to mention he is already stronger then Brocker 30 reps bench press to 19.

point worth noting.....doing more reps on a bench press doesn't make you stronger than player X on a football field. 2 different things. Poe does well on the bench press b/c of his comically short arms. I'd say in terms of football strength....Poe is the weakest of the top 5.

I admit, I fell victim to the combine numbers on Poe... But, the more that has come out about his lack of motor and overall football skill, I'm no longer a fan. Could be a steal if he was taken in the 3rd or 4th, but that combine performance guarantees that someone is gonna reach on him.

That being said, I'm no longer on the Poe bandwagon. I think our pick could be between Claiborne, Kuechly, Cox, or Worthy.

And the Raiders will draft Poe.

From what I've seen, Cox can play the 1, 3, & 5. They used him everywhere on that line. Even on the outside. I think he fits us great and have been on and on and on about the kid since January if you follow the Draft forum. He's easily the most consistent, great work to show for, and played against top competition. The nice thing is that his versatility matched with our style defense in our 3-4 hybrid looks I think fits perfectly. Plus, we don't necessarily need some huge as$ NT, we have Edwards with Fua backing him up who's still developing. We need someone to drive some competition with McClain. Cox and Worthy are the only DTs I would consider in this draft unless we trade down and Brockers is there later in round 1.

And yeah, Mayock follows trends...it was obvious that Poe was gonna fall major and Cox cement at the top of the DT class.

Its either Kuechly, Claiborne, OL, or Cox... or we end up trading down.

Mayock just did his Top 5 DTs on NFL Network's Path to the Draft. Poe dropped from #1 overall to #4. He said that the tape on the guy is average, and it's going to take a very good mentor to coach him up.

Fletcher Cox moved up to the #1 DT. He said Cox could easily go in the Top 15, and may even go in the top 10. Maybe foreshadowing the Panthers' pick?

I don't think that we're gonna draft a DT or pick one up this year.

The kid is 305 right now he can easily add 15 pounds and not lose speed.

He has the same lenght arms as Brockers so the short arm thing doesn't work in this case.

No they don't. Brockers are longer. I will admit using the term comically short is an exaggeration....a couple inches.

Add Poe's shorter arms plus fatter body together.....means he doesn't have to lift the weight as far a distance as a more slender guy with longer arms.

Poe's shorter arms and body girth aid him on the bench.....not on the field

And again, bench press strength and football strength aren't the same.....Poe clearly doesn't have the football strength of other DTs at this point.

Fletcher Cox*, DT, Mississippi State

Height: 6-4. Weight: 298.

40 Time: 4.79. 10-Yd Split: 1.63.

Bench: 30.

Vertical: 26. Broad: 8-7.

Arm: 34 1/2.

Michael Brockers*, DT, LSU

Height: 6-5. Weight: 322.

40 Time: 5.33. 10-Yd Split: 1.77.

Bench: 19.

Vertical: 26.5. Broad: 8-9.

Arm: 35.

Does that half inch really help him put the weight up 11 more times then Brockers?
