I really hope your kidding, if we dont do the Otah trade we probably take Oher this year, and have been a year behind on the offenses development. Otah is a pro bowl player next year.

If they where so high on Otah they should have picked him first and then got another RB later in the draft.

If JP is dealt and we get a 1st rounder back and some picks then the grade should change. Otherwise, to this point its accurate. That is way too steep of a price. We keep robbing Peter to pay Paul. Its going to catch up. I dont know too much about Martin (which is what I predicted, the Panthers taking a low profile CB with #59) but we do need a corner so its not a bad pick IMO.

Agreed. At first, I thought that we had a deal in place for Pep to replace that pick... But, I seriously doubt it. Brown could be a huge impact player but as of now, I feel the exact same way - The price was too steep.

If the Panthers put up a sub .500 season in 2009 (we face a forever improving NFC South, the NFC East, the AFC East, the Cards, & the Vikes) just think how great it will be we wont have a 1st round pick in 2010.

Honestly, I know this is crazy, but it bothered me a little to trade next year's first because:

We did it last year, got a great player with the pick, but we ended up getting blown out in our first playoff game. It felt like the season was a waste.

Otah is a franchise-type tackle for years to come. I loved that we got him. But to do it again this year???

I feel like with our final results last year, the only way we should've traded another 1st is if we thought the guy was the missing piece that could take us all the way. I know Brown will have an impact, but how much?

For those of you saying we went about the trade wrong, and should have used our picks this year to trade up instead of next years first.

OK, well going by the draft trade value chart, we would have to give up our 2nd, 3rd AND 4th rounders for that #43 spot. So basically our entire draft minus 2 late round scrubs. And don't say they would have taken less. With a 1st round talent sitting there they'd want full value, maybe more.
