Am I Wrong For Thinking...

Just like GMs said Cam ran a simplistic offense and was wildly inaccurate at times, or that he would take at least 3 years to develop?

Stereotypes and biases DO affect some scouts' evaluations.

And Cam was extremely impressive at the combine.

As far as the thread, BP has a point. And this is why many, including myself, got so pissed off last year when it came to Cam. Stereotypes, biases, and prejudices do influence how some people view players, how they will project, and where they should play.

But, so many times, we have already have proof of how inaccurate these preconceived and biased notions are.

He was not the fastest QB at the combine nor did he do well with passing... If you call that extremely well IDK what you call bad. Also it was the talking heads say he ran a simplistic offense not the GMs cause they dont talk they pick players and the good ones dont show there hand.

Cam is great without having to make up things about him.

To say Luke Kuechly will be a bust because he's white is unfair. He had awesome college carrer, 3 years at BC play 38 games he recorded 532 tackles which is now an ACC Conference record. I don't think a slow average player can do that. He's got better each year so why wouldn't he progress into good NFL linebacker?

I don't think we'll draft him tho, wouldn't be upset or mad if did. He would be good insurance for T.Davis or Beason if either one goes down again.

The meanest linebacker of all NFL was Jack Lambert, he's so happen be white and H.O.F.

You're right... He was not impressive at all at the combine. I mean, factoring in his height/weight, his 40 time, vertical, broad jump, and arm strength were not impressive at all. They certainly didn't stack up to the likes of Blaine Gabbert. In fact, his numbers were pathetic. I have no idea how he even got drafted after that performance.

And I'm sure if you pull up any articles from last year, none of them have "One NFL GM..." or "One NFC/AFC scout said..." They did, and that's what I was referring to. There were articles that said he ran a simplistic offense with those same references.

His throwing session at the combine was still extremely impressive for those that understood what was going on. First off, his footwork caused misses because he wasn't used to throwing from under center. Second, he was throwing to receivers he wasn't familiar with and there was even an article on that recently that suggested he was in so many words, setup for failure.

So, obviously, considering all of that... Yeah, he was unimpressive. Just ask Hurney.

saying ANY prospect will bust before a nfl snap is unfair. with that being said, im not a fan of Luke. i only see a decent football player on the next level. i like other LBs who will be there in the 2nd round that have shown the ability to rush the passer. and one is a white OLB by the name Shea McClellin. McClellin is a LB i would rather have than Luke.

I just love how all these huddle experts can say Kuechly was decent or average when he is the consensus Butkus award winner which is given to the best linebacker in the country. And the vote wasn't even close. In fact he was the second best linebacker behind Von Miller his sophomore year in voting.

He led the country in tackles two year straight and had 7 interceptions , 2 of which he returned for TDs but lets worry he can't rush the passer so we should avoid him. Instead draft someone in the second round who two or three huddlers liked better.

Glad that Rivera and Hurney are making the decision rather than folks here.

If you liked Dan Morgan, who we took @11, you'll love Kuechly

While getting a pass rusher is important, stopping the run is vital. This kid, like Morgan, is a bonified run stuffer.

Seems that line of reasoning is not as important as rushing the passer according to some here. Problem with the whole pass rusher rationale, if we only want pass rushers for linebackers then we need to replace Anderson, Beason and Davis as well. After all Davis and Anderson have never had more than 3.5 sacks in any pro season, Beason has never had more than 2. Since pass rusher is the all important trait, we need to dump all of them. After all given they haven't been good pass rushers we all know it had nothing to do with scheme but all about ability. Guys who haven't rushed the passer can't learn to do it. At least accordng to the experts on the huddle.

how is this even meritorious argument? would it be ok if the public assumed every black qb will fail because all they can do is run? assuming anything negative about any ethnicity based on a stereotype should make a person blush.

i'm in the business of making money and winning games, so biases play no role.
