Am I Wrong For Thinking...

Yes, I'd say you're wrong because that is the same stereotyping that we saw with game regarding a black quarterback.

On top of that I would say you are wrong because there are plenty of great linebackers that are white.

1. James Laurinaitis was third in solo tackles and eighth in total tackles.

2. Pat Angerer was second in assisted tackles and fourth in total tackles.

3. Paul Posluszny was seventh in assisted tackles.

4. Connor Barwin was ninth in sacks.

5. Rob Ninkovich was second in fumble recoveries.

6. Brian Urlacher was second in fumbles recovered for touchdowns.

Other good white linebackers include...

Jarrett Johnson

Brian Cushing

Sean Lee

A.J. Hawk

Ryan Kerrigan

Clay Matthews

The problem is not that there aren't any good white linebackers it's that there aren't that many white linebackers to begin with. Most white linebackers are actually pretty sold.

By the way, most people are comparing Luke Kuechly to Zach Thomas not Aaron Curry.

GMs look at the tape and not the combine and thats why we will not pick him at 9.

If everyone went off the combine then we would have Blane Gabbert instead of Cam.

Just like GMs said Cam ran a simplistic offense and was wildly inaccurate at times, or that he would take at least 3 years to develop?

Stereotypes and biases DO affect some scouts' evaluations.

And Cam was extremely impressive at the combine.

As far as the thread, BP has a point. And this is why many, including myself, got so pissed off last year when it came to Cam. Stereotypes, biases, and prejudices do influence how some people view players, how they will project, and where they should play.

But, so many times, we have already have proof of how inaccurate these preconceived and biased notions are.

I just don't want Kuelechy because MLB is a lower value position... If you could tell me with certainty he will pan out to be a leader like Ray Lewis, a tackler like Brian Urlacher, and a beast of a man like Patrick Willis, I would draft him. However, I still have faith in Beason to come back, and believe that Ingram would better fill our need and is similiar to Kuechly in talent. They do have varying talents, but Ingram's talent is what we need. Pass rushing ability which he showed in college. Kuechly, however, is not a natural pass rusher and has often been criticized for downfield tackling (I have not watched him play much so I do not know how true this is). So Ingram or Coples over Kuechly.

I'd love for him to do that on another team. Missing on a franchise QB is a helluva a lot different than reaching for a 4-3 LB in the Top 10.

Playing Devil's advocate here.

We're not talking the #1 overall pick but rather #9.

Who's opinion do you feel Kuechly would be a reach on, your own?

Scout, Walter Football, Draftek and the like all have Kuechly above or right at our draft position.

I probably shouldn't even have posted in this thread the way it started and don't prefer we go LB 1st round but meh.

You mean like his freshmen year in college when he played OLB and was second in the nation in tackles. Seriously are you going for a reaction or are you trying out for a part as George Jefferson in a remake of the TV show??

Any white linebacker can get tackles. I was asking if he can cover tight ends and rush the passer.

You're assuming Beason will be back 90-100% back by the start of the season then?

Not, but that's what James Anderson is for.

Also, there aren't that many good white anything in the NFL is there?

The NFL is dominated by superior black football players isn't it?

I believe it's something like 67% Black versus 31% white Players in the NFL currently.

Saying white football players aren't as good as black football players percentage wise is proved every day when you look at the US population and the numbers of caucasion versus blacks and then compare that to the inverse percentages in the NFL. Now maybe there might be one white better than one black or vice versa at a given position a given year but who cares?
