Some of you guys kill me. There are still a multitude of cuts yet to come. Wait until after the draft and during camp. The camp cuts, especially the 2nd round of cuts and later, will see a huge influx of players worthy of being snagged up. We will have some money to play with.

Free agency is over in March guyz, didn't you know??!?!?! Hurney is teh sux!

Screw "quality" free agents. I'dd rather bring in a cheap guy with a ton of potential to be good and fit good into Rivera's scheme ( ex: Bruce) than some mid grade free agent who will take up Cap space and might have a sense of "entitlement"

Also, i bet Rivera has a lot of say when it comes to FA/ Draft /Cuts. It aint just Hurney. I have full trust in this FO cause Rivera knows what he wants in order to put out a good squad.

I know that this has probably been explained already but why will it take till June for Wharton's cap hit to free up

Type of cut it is.

Controls how the dead money is spread of some such bullshit.

Also a partial explanation as to why it's humorous to read some of the armchair GM bitchin' about cap space...not that either of you are being cited on this, but it's obvious to me that the FO manipulates the cap as needed relative to the moves they decide to make, not the opposite.

yeah, we could have taken him off the books the day we cut him but by designating it a june 1st cut it allows us to spread the dead money cap hit over this year and next rather than taking it all this season.

and i think you might have a point that we very well may sit on it in order to carry it over into next season. our cap situation next year is just as bad, maybe worse now that we restructured gross and pushed a lot of his cap hit this year into the future. i believe we're already over the cap for next year and the cap isn't hardly going to budge.

Wouldn't surprise me if they sat on it for the season

I totally concur. We have far too many "What if's" this year. Otah, Hogan, Davis, Beason, Martin, LG, and Barney. Rivera has to wait and see with these guys. It may handcuff him to a large degree, but at this point in time he has no choice.

The good news. We should sniff the playoffs this year. And all the while, Rivera will be molding this team into what he envisioned when he took over. By the end of the year, this should finally be Riveras team.
