We didnt draft CB Sean Smith because

Which is why I think Marshall will stay at nickel. I bet Martin gets Lucas' spot in training camp and it will be his to lose. If nothing else, it will be an open competition

A FS will over take Marshall at CB?

Why do we draft out of position!??!?!?!

Um no. He played FS all throughout college, so that is why I called him a FS. That makes sense to me.

And Godfrey played CB all throughout college. He's listed as a CB/FS because a lot of experts think he'd translate better to the CB position in the pros. (depending on the system)

Godfrey played more CB than Martin has, and Godfrey was compeiting against..........Nate salley.

Where as Martin has played less CB and is competition against Richard Marshall.

My OP is still on key with what I was saying. I was saying Martin(a FS) wasn't going to beat out Marshall for the #2 CB spot.

Doesn't everyone?

Not really. They'll answer questions from the media, give the usual "we liked him because (blah blah blah)" and that's pretty much it.

Doesn't really worry me much right now. We'll see when they take the field how good or bad it was.

well here's the deal, Smith is not fit for the cover 2 at all. He's a poor tackler, and quite frankly isn't good at quick adjustments. If you thought Ken Lucas was bad in his last year with us, Sean Smith would be that much worse. Smith is more of a blitzing corner that's good for specific blitzing nickle and dime packages. He'll never be a starter as a CB in this league because he's not good at adjusting when one's back pedaling, and he'll never be a great safety either because the boy is a horrible HORRIBLE tackler.

Martin is like Troy Polomalu. He is a ball hawk pure and simple. I think of all the DBs, he was the best at roaming from sideline to sideline. To me, I think what this pick means is someone is going to be transformed from their current position into a CB. Probably Godfrey.
