Keepers For Bobcats

Looking down the road in 2 years we only have Tyrus, Kemba, Bismack, Henderson, and Mullens as possible on the books players.

Question for everyone is who do you guys feel are "keepers" for Charlotte's team next year?

Tyrus Thomas - Mainly because I don't see a way we could trade him without bringing back an overpaid player. He has talent but his shot has been really off this year.

Bismack Boyombo - Haven't seen anything from him this year that would make me want to give up. He is a young player that needs to develop his post game but great defender.

Reggie Williams - Good shooter and can even handle the ball in situations where a true PG isn't on the court.

Kemba Walker - Has talent but also has some work to do. Needs to work on his decision making and not pounding the rock too much.

Gerald Henderson - Good mid range shooter and defender.

DJ White - Love this player. Not sure why he doesn't get more playing time but it might just be the situation. Has a good shot for 4.

Players who I think we are stuck with:

Carroll

Diop

Maggette

...unless we amnesty one of these guys.

Only 2 tradable players I see are Mullens and Augustin (S&T)

Keepers

Bismack- best player for team, plays hard and wants to get better

hendo- solid starter, would be even better if he wasnt expected to be our best scorer, with a great scoring SF he coud really be something special

kemba- i like him, but he is what i expected, not a true starter, more of a jason terry type. not dissapointed with it s it is needed on a roster

Reggie williams- good shooter off bench.

mullens- good scorer still young, decent backup big.

Kinda's

D.J White- not much of a white fan, but if he came back cheap less than 2mil id keep him around

Tyrus- i just dont know, he shoots too much for me, but i wouldnt let him go without value in return which just isnt going to happen right now

D. Brown- he works hard and is trying to get better everyday and i would say he has, but if he isnt less than 1.5 mil i dont want him. He will never be more than a athlete at the ned of the bench.

gone

DJ- he looks to have given up

diop- never showed up

maggs- when you drive i love your game but you settle for a jumpshot way too much. plus too much money...

with that said i think tyrus will get the amnesty at the end of next yr if no improvement is shown, no point to use it on anyone else since their contracts end in next yr or 2. and we would have around 20mil free this yr to sign a hibbert for 13mil or multiple mid level players.

Tyrus being amnestied, never heard anyone bring that up. I mean it does make sense in a way because he has the longest contract. But you do know if he is amnestied they still have to pay him. So basically we'd be paying him to play elsewhere.

its a popular rumor, because it saves so much money for the cap in future yrs.... just if jordan is willing to pay the contract. i'd like to wait and see about his progress next yr and then make a decision.

The only players that need to be back are Henderson, Bismack, Kemba, Rdub.

Try to trade Augustine and whoever else you can. There are very few pieces to build this team around. But it is something to start with. The biggest improvement will be getting rid of most of our roster and drafting Anthony Davis. Hopefully we can get Kris Joseph or somebody in the second.

i think hendo is at worst a 6th man, he has learned to score with either hand around the rim, and knows when his shot isnt falling and to drive to the lane. he doesnt take a bunch of dumb shots and is always playing great defense with constant effort. besides Biz he is the only other reason i can watch the team right now.

Maggette was such a terrible pickup. He's the glass man, injured when someone sneezes. I think if amensty anyone it'll be Diop, even though he only has a year left, he helps us zero, at least Tyrus can play. Then again, why didn't we dump Diop before this year? Not sure. This team is such a mess, I don't see us having a decent team for 2-3 years.

    • This is a wild statement it’s to late to save his season with six games left? That mountain of bad film as a rookie with trash coaching a weak azz line and dismal WRs. Guys that can’t catch on with other teams or guys traded to teams that are subpar at best. We put Bryce in a terrible situation to start his career does that matter to you or you feel he should’ve, as a rookie elevate this dumpster fire. If you’re giving him a fair assessment judge him off the last four games a good o-line decent WRs still not comparable to any other young QB WR room Hou (tank/nico..) Tua (Hill/Waddle) Caleb (Moore/Rome/Allen) let’s see what he can do with a decent structure around him for the next few weeks then let’s revisit how we’re going to grade or assess his performances.
    • As a bit of counterpoint, if he wanted to continue his professional career then handling it like a mature adult was the only option. Dude had been playing like absolute ass and needed to own it. It's great that he did but it's not like he didn't have a large amount of self interest in doing so. Not picking on Bryce specifically here, as this applies to any player or even anyone struggling early in their career. And he still has a long way to go, but signs are positive.
    • I agree he could still develop, but I think that could still be developed in practice. Just after a scary injury like that, I'm nervous to see him get reps in a live game situation when the best possible outcome is nothing more than worsening our draft selection. That said, I'm 100% not a doctor, so if he's clear to play, he wants to play, and there's no potential of aggravating this injury (which by all accounts it doesn't seem that is the case for this type of injury) then go for it, I guess.   But you hit the nail on the head. This draft class is really impressive. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a rookie that I'd actually prefer shutting him down. His game is so apparent that he doesn't need to prove anything at this point. Can't remember the last time that happened!
