1st Round: DE Whitney Mercilus 6'4, 261

Ok, so I know this isn't gonna happen, but after watching the tape I feel like he is the most disruptive pass rusher in the draft. His speed and motor are off the charts with great instincts in forcing fumbles. He would solidify our DE position and be a dominant pass rusher imo. Only negative I see if he is not the best at stopping the run.. I like the fact that he could also play OLB in 3-4 looks. Pretty sure we will draft Quinton Coples here with a chance of either Poe, Cox, or Brockers.

2nd Round: CB Jayron Hosley 5'10, 178

Would love it if Jenkins or Gilmore fell here but I dont think thats gonna happen. Hosley would still be a nice pick up and would be an upgrade over Capt. Led the NCAA in int's in 2010. Wouldn't mind getting a LB's Brown or Davis if they fell here as well.

4th Round: OLB Nigel Bradham 6'2, 241

Fast and physical LB. Led FSU in tackles 3 straight years. Its possible he could get picked in the 3rd but im hoping that doesnt happen. Wouldnt mind a good run stopping DT here.

5th Round: DT Hebron Fangupo 6'1, 323

I would prefer Nicolas Jean Baptiste here but I think he gets picked in the 3rd or 4th round. I think Fangupo could become a decent run stopper at DT.

6th Round: OG Rokevious Watkins 6'4, 338

Would be a nice addition on the OL. Hope he is there.

6th Round: S Neiko Thorpe 6'1, 198

Thorpe was a CB in 2010 before being converted to S. Has nice size and speed and I think he has a lot of upside / potential.

7th Round: P Shawn Powell

We need a good punter. Powell led the NCAA in punting yards with an average of 47 per.

Whitney Mercilus would probably be on my list of worst players to draft 9th overall.

The rest is decent though.

He did lead the nation in sacks...the guy is a beast but Illinois is baad.

I'd actually think this draft would really improve our defense and especially ST. Bradham, Hosley, & Powell

If we trade down Whitney, Perry, Barron, Kendall Wright...we've got a good crop to choose from imo

Illi was not bad on D. Had a top 10 defense if im not mistaken.

I am a UNC die hard so for me to put a DE over Coples says something as I think highly of Coples.

But man, the motor on Mercilus is insanse, and comes off the edge like a rocket! I think he is gonna be special.

If you're talkin a trade back then yeah, maybe. He's still sort of a tweener though and I'm not sure if his game will translate to the NFL much like Everette Brown's spin moves/swim moves didn't translate.

Sure as hell not worth a top ten pick though. Let Jacksonville make that mistake.

Everette Brown was undersized didnt lead the NCAA in sacks imo. Was he even as quick as Mercilus? Not a good comparison.

He is the best pass rushing DE in the draft. Which is what we need to deal with Brees and Rodgers ect.

Trade back if you can, if not id still take him.

Coples would be a good get also, but I just feel like he takes plays off and doesnt have near the motor Mercilus has.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
