Does Poe Fit The Nose Tackle Position In A 3-4 Defense

I think there's four DTs in this draft that are going to be great at the next level.

Poe, Cox, Worthy, and Brockers.

I would be happy with any one of the four. And what's definitely interesting about the group is each one is very different than the other.

Neither Poe or Brockers has EVER DONE ANYTHING except be first thru the lunch line. Brockers and Poe are the Blaine Gabberts of DT," well they look like a DT so surely they can play it, although they haven't yet against lesser talent than they will at the NFL level." How does that make sense to anyone? Gamble in the 4th rd not at #9. Cox and Worthy have at least produced.

Brockers was a part-time player last year. In college terms, he was in the mix for a starting spot. In NFL terms, he is years from reaching #9 expectations.

Poe underwhelmed. In college terms, he probably needs another year to develop. In NFL terms, another project.

Worthy, Still, Cox have all shown a knack for disruption. (Which I thought was the great unequalizer) All have extensive playing experience, with production to show for their efforts. In elite Conferences to boot. In college terms, sad to see you leave. In NFL terms, welcome to the party.

That said. At #9, I would avoid all of them. We are not yet at the phase of our development that we can afford to "Reach" with a #1 pick. Our 1st round pick, and maybe even the 2nd, must produce this year. I know that limits our options. But, any player we get that is capable of starting is going to makes us better. They will just make us better now as opposed to later.

Just a few thoughts. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Poe, would be a probowler here. Guy takes up 2 blockers. Hes also the strongest player in this draft as well as past drafts. Brockers will be a bust.

We already have Poe on the roster. Only his name is Shirley. 6-5 345. There is more to it than taking up two blockers. Although, if you can consistanly draw double teams that is pretty impressive. Because if all it takes is size, we already have that.

Is it possible that Poe's lack of productivity can be blamed on bad coaching?

Most definitely, but I think the biggest problem with Poe's lack of production is that he was the only good thing on that defense, so offensive coaches just targeted him each play.

The people that say no to poe remind me of the people that were against drafting cam. The arguement that he played at a lower level of compititon and that you don't draft based on potential. Poe's upside is the defensive version of cam. He's built in that same freak mindset as cam. We know that he's big strong and fast, all that needs to be worked on is his leverage. This guy is something we've never seen before and the closest comparision is haloti ngata. I'd take the chance and not think twice about it. For those of you saying he wouldn't see the field and maybe 2-3 years down the road he would start. Let me ask you this, who is going to keep him off the field fua?

What are you talking about? People never said Cam didn't go against stiff competition, hell he played in the SEC. How is Poe even remotely the same as Cam? His motor is absolutely horrible, scouts said he's ALWAYS on the ground, some of his film is even hard to watch at times. Cam who dominated the fuging SEC, and used his running ability to use. Poe hasn't done that AT ALL he's in a horrible conference and should have definitely been more productive in college.

I seriously can't believe people are comparing Poe to Cam. There is NOTHING to compare, you actually see Cam's athleticism on the field, with Poe you do not. Cam had one of the highest QB efficiency rating in the SEC for a QB, Poe who played in the fuging conference USA for god sakes did hardly anything.
