You guys are pussies.

Screw you. Hurney keeps wasting picks to move in the draft like I posted in another thread. Good value bad execution on get the pick. Should have packaged some picks this year to move up not spend our first rounder next year.

Big Difference White was Projected late 2nd. Brown was Projected 15th. Miami knew New Englanded wanted White so they jumped up and grabbed him.

And maybe we jumped up because someone else was going for Brown (perhaps the Bengals, seeing as they took Connor Barwin three picks later).

The only players that really matter in judging where he was taken in relation to other players at the same position. Of that bunch - Tyson Jackson, Aaron Maybin, Brian Orakpo, Larry English - all were pretty good, though a lot of folks seem to think Jackson as #3 was a pretty big reach.

It's all subjective until they hit the field. Heck, Thurman Thomas dropped into the second round because teams passed on him too. Didn't prove to be a wise decision.

One question if he is such a good pick why did every other team in the NFL pass on him?

The reason Brown dropped is due to his size. Most teams think he may have to switch to OLB in the NFL. Since he is a DE that has played with his hand on the ground, they are not sure how well he will translate to standing as a LB. However, in the cover 2, particularly Meeks' version, he should be fine as a DE, much like Freeney and Mathis in Indy, who are also undersized. If anything, being a little small can be an advantage in this scheme.

The other concern again has to do with his size. If he does stay at DE, teams are concerned about how well he will hold up against the run. They feel he may not have the bulk to hold up at the point of attack, and possibly be a vulnerability. This, I think is a little more of a legitimate concern, but don't think it is a major one. Not that I saw him play every game, but when I did watch him, I didn't notice him being particularly weak against the run or consistently being held up by the OL. Also, one thing that mitigates this concern a bit for me is the fact that he is very strong and should be able to hold his own in defending the run. Not to mention the fact that he will likely add some weight once he gets into an NFL program.

If you go and look at all the write-ups on him, most give him glowing evaluations as a pass rusher and have him rated as a mid first round pick...and usually no worse than the 2nd or 3rd rated DE in the draft. So really, this wasn't a bad deal for us at all since we, in essence, got a first round talent (plus a four) for a future first round pick.

He dropped because he's only 6-1, 6-1 1/2 in cleats. He was viewed as more of a tweener or 3-4 OLB, but his skill set puts him as DE even in the NFL. Some said all he had was his speed rush (that's a lie though, he's got an effective swim move, he has a good spin move and has a decent club move as well.)

That being said, he's still the 2nd best DE in this draft and a top 15 talent in this draft who just happened to fall because of his size.

This was a brilliant move. I don't know why everyone is hanging their head. We did this last year with Otah and look how that worked out. If you have an opportunity to grab a player that you feel can contribute immediately, you grab him. We just got a top 10 to 15 pick for pennies on the dollar.

Plus the late first rounders you don't have to pay all this serious guaranteed coin and there isn't any free agent DE talent I am interested in. This will give him a year to learn the system before we ship Peppers sorry azz off after next year.

I am very very happy so far. Martin is a stud too. I watched him against ECU last year and remember noticing how he was all over the ball. Now if we can only grab a QB, I am very happy.
