Eagles Have 16.1 Million In Cap Space!

This is a team with Asante Samuel (one of the highest paid corner), Michael Vick (100 million dollar QB), Jason Peters (one of the top LTs), Asomugha (60 million dollar contract), Jason Babin, Demeco Ryans, DRC, Desean Jackson. Why do they have this much cap room??? Because they don't value the guys that they draft (family) as more important than any other player. They don't make a 50/50 running back the highest-paid back in the league when there is a 25 year old stud already on the team. They use this idea called LEVERAGE to build a team instead of overpaying for players when there isn't even any freaking competition to sign the player in the first place.

The Steelers are ready to let Mike Wallace walk if he doesn't come down on his price. They let Porter walk, they replaced probably the most beloved player of all time (Hines Ward) without even a second thought. That is what winning organizations do...they don't start treating these guys like they are irreplaceable if it means it's going to get in the way of winning. They don't pay a running back 6 million bucks a year to rush for 800 yards and 7 TDs. They don't pay a QB 40 million bucks when he just imploded in the playoffs. Hurney's an idiot. Our expectations for a GM are low because we look at teams like the Raiders, Browns, and Jaguars and say it could be worse but the fact is it could be a hell of a lot better.

^^^^this is the truth^^^

Our fanbase is way too complacent when it comes to stuff like this.. the mentality has to change and we need to demand better from the FO.

Well, that's fine and we can demand anything we want but that has no bearing on the team. The only thing that will change this is a change in the way the front office manages.

I have a really really really hard time believing that the # is accurate! 16.1 million? No way right?? I mean Vicks contract isn't at all guaranteed and is incentive laden, but damn 16.1 million under?

If you thought they were the DreamTeam last year, just fuggin wait til the smoke clears before the season starts

It is amazing how some teams work the cap. Cowboys, and Skins are always spending like crazy, If Eagles are 16 mil under that is crazy good.

Lot of good it's done them...they've all been mediocre to terrible for years...Philly had a good run in the middle of last decade, other than that these three teams haven't been anything special by any stretch.

This isn't the point. That's on scouting and/or coaching. The point is being able to sign good to great players to weak areas of the team and still be in great shape cap wise.

Time for a new GM when Marty's contract is up? Lol, Big Cat won't let him walk, he'll re-sign him to ten more years. Hurney has his moments of greatness but it sometimes seems like he doesn't see the bigger picture, plays favorites with the players and their contracts. I wouldn't do it that way, that's for sure.

The thing that kills me about hurney is that he never admits when he's wrong. I remember hearing several interviews on WFNZ when people would call up and call him out about certain things he did. He'd sit there and take it, which was very admirable of him but then defend him wrong doings. If you fuged up on something own up to it, learn from it, move on man. But noooo Hurney doesn't do anything wrong. JR loves this guy too much that I don't believe he's ever going to be let go.
