Got A Chance To Talk To A Player On The D-Line About The Draft

I've known a number of NFL players over the years and the ONLY thing that they know/care about the draft is if someone is taken high at their position. It's a profession/business to them and losing their job can mean millions. They want to win, but they want to earn a living even more. They're always going to think that drafting a player at a position other than theirs is the best idea.

I can totally buy this...in fact I bet if they saw how much the Huddle obseses on it they'd have to laugh.

i disagree that Decastro would be a reach at #9, assuming that the general consensus on him is correct, that of a 10-year all-pro starter. i would think a 10-year all-pro starter at any position is worth a top ten pick. otherwise i'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish there?

I tend to agree and believe DeCastro could very well be the pick.

We cut Wharton and only have mediocre players to replace him with. Hangman is a good backup...Pollack is not highly rated and came cheap.... Williams is not a stud.

Not saying he will be the pick, but with the moves we have made on the OL, it is very possible.

I feel like it is when Munnerlyn is a starting corner...

And also look at what NYG did... creating competition and depth at D-line is definetly a good idea.

Munnerlyn won't be our starting corner when Brandon Hogan joins our team...

The only OL other than Kalil that I want at 9th is Decastro. No Reiff, etc.

Decastro is a reach, but he is too good and has pro bowl written all over him.

But I'd hate if we go Offense because we didn't do anything in FA on the Defense to say we should be drafting any "O" in the first.

It would be a dumb move, especially when the defense is the answer to why we're not winning.

Well Captain Munnerlyn would tell you the Panthers don't need a corner! To be honest it wouldn't kill me to go offense in round one. If the Panthers are healthy they will instantly be a better defense than last year. The future is all about offense in the NFL.

best case possible Beason will be weaker, Ron Edwards isn't going to just revolutionize the D, and Davis will very likely injure himself again. We do need defense. But I would just draft good players and build around Newton.

I bet the OL signings we have made this offseason have little to no guaranteed money. Could very well be cut in camp.

Hangman was signed to be a starter and the team really likes Williams and Bell. Pollak may be camp fodder but we will already have good comp. for the 2 guard position without adding a rookie.
