Good Waste Of $20

This is what I don't understand....so it makes financial sense to spend $20 to win $363M but not so much when that $20 could win you $45M.

Like $45M wouldn't change someones life just as much

Wow someone else actually gets it. Thank you :)

Just paid the idiot tax for the first time. $20 down the drain.

It's pretty crazy, the gas station I went to had one register open for lottery tickets, and one open for everything else. I had to wait in a line of about six people.

technically if you had 176 million dollars laying around, you could buy every number combination and win and come out a little ahead after taxes..

Jerry Richardson, I need a loan....

Except if someone else wins too, in which case you're screwed.

"Sure, if you take the lump-sum option, you'll get only $389 million. Otherwise, it's 26 annual payments of about $20 million (the forced-discipline option we'd pick if we were the lucky winner). And then there's 25% for federal taxes and also maybe state and local taxes, depending on where you live.

But for the fun of it, let's just imagine how much money $540 million really is.

Here's a visual: If you walked down the street and found a dollar bill on the ground every 10 feet, you'd have to walk the circumference of the Earth 41 times to pick up all 540 million of those bills."
