Myrtle Beach - Fishing From Pier?

It cost $35 to fish from pier. Is it worth it? I'm going on vacation in few months and I'm not sure if I should just pay $350 for a boat or pier will do? I just want to catch few decent size (big enough to eat) fishes. I don't want to pay $35, sit on my ass for 4hrs and leave empty handed. Need suggestions please.

If you have the money take a boat. More fish to be caught and the pier is boring.

A lot of sharks off the pier these days in NMB...would be fun to catch. I've seen some guys have decent luck on the pier, but obviously it can't replace the boat.

There are tons of easier ways to go fishing, even without a boat. I hate pier fishing personally. I'd rather surf fish.

Either way, you have to make sure you buy a saltwater fishing license. I would suggest a boat if you can swing the $. If not, surf fish with shrimp.

Apache Pier sucks until the water temp is in the mid 70's. If you have the means I would take a boat over the pier any day. We stay about a quarter mile from the Apache pier when we go down.

I usually catch crabs at Myrtle beach....Sometimes under the pier..

I've done this several time and it is a blast. I had no idea what I was doing though so I never had much luck.
