The Best/worst Of Marty Hurney

He's ok at drafting..

terrible FA moves. aside from Stephen Davis. I can't remember one good FA move

Ricky Proehl, getting Moose back after his stint in Chicago. Jake Delhomme, Chris Harris. I think he also signed Al Wallace. Fwiw, we haven't been a big player in the free agent market over the last 6 years.

That never happened. We took Jimmy with our 2nd round pick.

I think he's commenting on how it's been speculated that Hurney wanted to move up two years ago to draft Clausen, and had he been able to do so we wouldn't have had the #1 overall to draft Cam.

This forum has no idea how to evaluate a GM. A GM does what their owner wants them to do, Hurney gutted the roster in 2010 because J. Richardson told him to. The strat was to win now until 2009 when it went to build through draft and Hurney did his job correctly, not his fault it didnt work out. I doubt the Armanti Edwards move was his either but we won't know that until he is done being a GM.

you guys are nuts!! Only Hurney could engineer a brilliant plan that led to us losing more games

than anyone so we could draft Cam Newton.

;)

that said, I don't know why anyone remembers drafting that tiny QB out of Louisville in the 3rd (?) round? because

he was similar to Jake? what a waste of a pick.

I'd buy that if half the contracts he gives players aren't bad. He may be told what the coach wants or JR wants, but bottom line is he's average at getting what they want. And most of his drafts aren't that good either. People keep hearing "Hurney is good at the draft, Hurney is good at the draft" and it gets embedded in the posters mind and they start believing it. Go look at our drafts the last 5 years...it isn't "good", but average at best if that.
