Mock Draft #...uh, The Most Recent One...

Recommended Posts

Ivan's Mock Draft.

Standing in the ninth position of this draft. The Panthers have many holes to fill. Some say Corner is the biggest need. The take of others is interior linemen. I fall in between both of them. Unless someone like Morris Claiborne, Justin Blackmon or any other top 5 Prospect falls, or the Panthers find a trade partner and get a 3rd or 2nd. I strongly believe the draft could go something like this..

With the Ninth pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers Select...

Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

(lol look who the guy on the bottom is..)

There's questions about his motor and taking plays off. I see where people are coming from, but he played out of position last year. His production wasn't as great as the year prior. But the man was consistent before this past year. The rotation of Johnson, Hardy, Keiser, Norwood, Tucker (not sure about him I'd prefer Applewhite.), and Coples would be very formidable.

Pick #2

Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State

What Ivan?! Not a CB?! Are you mad?! No I'm not mad. I believe that with the addition of our #2 bookend, and the addition of this monster, not to mention the rotation of a healthy Edwards and sophomore Fua and McClain, Our line will be fine. We have to let those guys develop, adding competition to the young guns will light a fire under their ass. He's disruptive and plays hard. Our guys will be fresh and produce more with our bookend pass rush and this inside force.

Round 4...

Joe Adams, WR/KR, Arkansas

I believe this guy will fall to us, he's a dangerous special teams guy. Our off season over haul of ST would be complete with this addition to the squad. In addition to the previous fact, he can legitimately put pressure on the WR core as well.

5th round...

Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri

Brockel and Hartstock? Really? Barnidge hasn't seen the field and hasn't been healthy. Egnew is the type of TE that Chudz loves, This kid is under rated to be honest. He would be a perfect fit in my humble opinion.

6th round...

Cliff Harris, CB/PR, Oregon

The front office will have to look past his issues. We did with Hogan, we did with Cam. He's got the talent. I know he's a dumbass, but there's talent there. Getting this guy in this round would be Ideal and a no brainer. All the other teams have passed on him already, at these depths he's a value pick, no questions about it. Before he doomed himself at Oregon he was a very productive Corner. Getting him cheap to compete for the #2 job against Hogan and whoever else would be Ideal.

Round 7

Bryan Anger, P, Cal

He punts, and is the best punter in the draft. Nuff said.

Any other picks would be BPA to be honest.

Flame away gents.

I really like this draft. I don't think Jerel Worthy will make it to our pick in the 2nd round, and Joe Adams has picked up some steam as a potential 2nd-3rd rounder, but guys can slip.

Cliff Harris is a thug. Yes he's talented but so was Pacman Jones. I don't want to touch him. I'd go with a linebacker, o-line depth or a different corner in his spot.

But overall the quality is there.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
